COLUMBUS, Ohio - Police said that a boy is in surgery after he was stabbed in the neck by another student during an assembly.

The incident took place at about 11:30 a.m. at West High School, located at 179 W. Powell Ave., 10TV News reported.

A witness told 10TV's Kevin Landers that one of the students pulled out a pocket-knife and slit the other student's throat.

Thats been on the news here all day. The problem usually is they give the kid a slap on the wrist and its done...no one pays penalties. The kid should be tried as an adult for attempted murder...and thats if the other survives. As of a few minutes ago, hes still in critical condition in ICU. Tommorrow I expect to hear from all the criminals friends and family that hes a good boy and never done anything before (same ole song and dance Ive heard a million times). Then of course they will blame the victim.

They will blame the victim, the knife, and enact more restrictions on the honest student population.

Heh, there is a guy at work that says that about his son. Calls him "the jail bird". He doesn't say until the bars rust though, he usually just sits there and curses.

They already have police officers in the schools here, now theyre talking about putting in metal detectors. They already have them in some of the bad schools, but want them in every school now.

Did the attacker yell, "Allah al akbar" before he slit the victim's throat?

The article does not say much about the attacker. It won't surprise me if that comes out in a day or two.

What is up with calling slitting a kid's throat a "stabbing"? That is not a stabbing. A stab is thrusting the blade into someone. This was much worse.

As expected not much said about the criminal ... mostly because theyre going to try him as a juvenile with only assault. (get out of jail free card) They prob wont even take him out of the school. He'll do a plea deal for probation only because his mommy spanked him as a child.

Did they say anything about why he did it?

no. Its not even in the local news now.
