Again ? Bets are on. Place your bet here. I got arrested for public intoxication. A very hard charge to defend against. Oh, this is gonna be a fun fight, . Place your bets here.

Sometimes they have to hit rock bottom before they realize it. Or sometimes, it takes death. It's a very unfortunate situation. Certainly not a situation to be made a game of.

I don't know you, and I certainly won't presume to judge you, but you've posted several threads on PFF over the past few years concerning problem situations involving you and alcohol ... and usually involving law enforcement, too. If alcohol is a factor in repeated problems in your life, then I'd say you may indeed have a problem with alcohol. Multiple DUIs and/or arrests for public intoxication are not normal, regardless of any particular circumstances.

There is not enough room to jail you for just public intoxication. Usually they will detain you until you sobor up,then release you. Now if you are on probation and the stipulation is your not to drink alcohol, than that is a whole different matter.

I never understood the Public Intoxication charge (assuming nothing is attached to it like fighting/theft/etc). You went to a bar, you had something to drink (maybe a few too many) and you made the right decision to NOT drive home.

Drunk in public laws are there to clean up the streets. The public does not want a lot of drunks stumbling around the streets at night. If you get drunk, then do it at home, have a driver or catch a cab.

I didn’t realize that you had this problem. Nor do I like it, I have always thought of you as a friend. And friends don’t let friends get arrested for stupid sh!t.
So get your sh!t together and cut the sh!t.
If you need another drunk to talk to I would be more than happy to be that other one. Just give me a call if you need to. You have the number if not just say so.
Now as for what happened?

Public intoxication? In a state that used to let you drive and drink? Just pull a Randy White and tell them you weren't in public until they threw you out into public. Good luck!
OK, Alcohol problem The TRUE definition of an alcoholic is not somebody who drinks to excess every day and every night...but somebody who needs to drink even TWO drinks a day, is alcohol dependant. Cliff, it would honestly grieve me no end to hear that you have been hurt/hurt somebody else because you HAVE to have a drink. My Lord I have known, and associated with people in the Music World who just couldn't get by without a drink or three every day. I lost quite a few of them to it. Please, PLEASE, don't add another to that sad list???? Be it by accident or ill health. I will say a prayer for you tonight, and every night until I hear you are going to tackle this pervasive addiction. In your line of business, you MUST be alcohol free anyway..how are you getting around that?? Cindi must be either very tolerant, or going out of her mind. Do it for HER. You won't find another like her, despite your optimism. And equally, she won't find another YOU!. You make the thread sound so flippant...but I KNOW it worries you, somewhere inside you. Listen to those voices, if you can't listen to ours. God Bless, my very good friend. Nick

It ain't difficult to get a public intox charge here in Texas. Walk out of a bar with booze on your breath--onto a public sidewalk, and you're fair game.
I've visted Cliff at his home in Kerrville. He spent a day and night here last month, He spent 3 days and nights here this month, I've seen him at several Fiero events--he even shared a room at one of the RRR's with me. I have NEVER seen him under the influence. Have I seen him drink a beer or 2--yep--but that's it. Just a couple of beers after working 95 degree days.

And as 87Antuzzi tells it, if you were CA you would have to pay thousands of dollars as the fines pile up. But, you're in TX - Put it on your tab!

Is this post some type of tease? A cry for help? Are you a diabetic or have some other medical condition that can mask as intoxication? If you are gonna put it out there, we are gonna ask/judge/offer unsolicited opinions and advice.

Thats the only true crime here. Drinking beer on hot days, in truth, is not good for you. Alcohol will dehydrate you, not hydrate you.
Jim
The adult beverages didn't come out till nearly dark. We were thru working Jim, and had gone back up to the house at the end of each of the 3 days of fencing, cleaned up, ate, and sat around relaxing. We had water and gatorade all during the day.
Like everyone else here, I don't know the particulars of this incident, but my gut feeling, is that Cliff is not an alcoholic, but rather a person who tends to push buttons with local law enforcement, and chooses to use less than optimum good judgement at times. Yes, I know--some will say I may be enabling a bad habit, but I speak just from what I have seen, and tho I very very rarely drink now, there was a time in my life that I could not pass up either a drink or a bar. Having lived in that glass house myself before, I won't cast stones.

Just to be clear I'm not casting stones either. I have no idea about Cliffs drinking habits so I would not comment on that. I was just throwing out some irrelevant fact to debunk a myth. Beer gets you drunk, it does not quench thirst. I would not presume to scold you or Cliff.

I have NEVER seen [cliffw] under the influence. Have I seen him drink a beer or 2--yep--but that's it.
You obviously know cliffw better than I do, but consider this: My wife and I had a dear friend who was divorced and for many years had lived alone in another city, but we often traveled together on summer vacation. (N.B. Traveling through Mormon country with two women is good for the male ego. ) While traveling we would sometimes have a margarita together before dinner or wine with dinner. My wife and I never saw our friend "under the influence" either, and there were no DUIs, anti-social behavior, or other external manifestations of an alcohol problem, but we and mutual friends (medical professionals) did notice subtle signs that she might be drinking more when alone than when she was with us. Two years ago she was discovered incapacitated in her home, hospitalized with severe gastric bleeding secondary to alcoholism, and died within a week.
Repeating what I posted earlier, multiple arrests for DUI and/or for public intoxication are not normal ... and may be strong indicators of a significant alcohol problem. What you do about it is up to you.

Its just another way the system screw's over the people. I almost had a DIP once but the cop ended up being really cool and letting me go. Your good as long as your drunk in a bar but when you walk out if your all roudy and out of control your getting a DIP Basciley a public disturbance but alchol induced.
Cliff if you need a friend to talk to just PM me dude.

Cliff - dont take any guff from those swine. They don't want you to drive drunk, so they arrest you for being responsible for walking home. Either the taxi cab companies and the police have a 'secret agreement' or your local boys are trying to drum up any revenue they can... Either way, considering how Nazi they are being, you may want to consider moving your drinking to a safer location, so you do not hav eto risk being picked up and brought in on charges. Thats my only advice, I personally don't care how much you drink, thats your business.. just dont let anyone take you away just because you were trying to have a good time.
Good luck!

Its a shame bars and county's out thart way dont have a drunk bus. Out here a lot of bars have a bus that when your there till last call and your unable to drive for a small fee they will take you home. sure the bus smells like sh*t... litterly sh*t but its safer than driving yourself. Atlantic city has a whole fleet of drunk bus'es
