well this morning i got a call from my sister in pa saying that my mom is in the hospital with chest pains. the test came back that it was a heart attack. a little bit ago my sister called me and told me the results of the heart cath. she has one artery totally blocked and another partailly. she will be going in for a triple bypass tomorrow morning. my mom and i haven't always been on good terms after her and my dad split when i was 6 but the last 8 years we have been getting closer then ever. it hurts that i can not be up there with my brothers and sisters.

Prayers and good vibes sent your way. Hopefully they got her into the hospital early enough so she suffered no real damage. My father had a quadruple bypass a few years ago and has been doing fine since then.

Good vibes to her and the rest of the family. Everything will go fine with the surgery; I just had a quadruple myself a couple of years ago and survived. Many of the guys here have had the surgery as well some more than once. Don’t worry too much she is in good hands in the hospital.

Prayers sent. Ten years ago, I got a phone call from my uncle (who worked with my Dad) telling me that my father had suffered a massive heart attack at work and that he went with him to the hospital, but that he passed away upon arrival. I'm glad your mother had the chance to have a bypass operation. I'm sure she will be well looked after, and bypass operations are routine these days.

Good thoughts sent. Thankfully bypass surgery, while still very serious, has a good survival rate. When Grandpa had his it was like he was young again.

Positive thoughts in en route. Though as long as she's at a good hospital, they shouldn't be needed.

Why can you not be ? I see you are a ways away but airlines have berievement fares. There is a federal FLMA (family leave medical act) law which disallows an employer from penalizing you taking time off.
I'd like to help.

Yup. Notice how things change? Colors seem different? Birds seems louder? The Bla Bla Bla of some peoples everyday miniscule problems, "Jesus I wanted ketchup with no mustard" type shizz, seems laughable?

Good thing for me, are the kids that depend on me, look to me. Having a great woman, great people to vent to (PFF'ers). Laughing at not having enough creamer for morning coffee. Teaching my 3 year old to say, "Who cares!" BTW she has mastered it, and with savoir-faire.

Keep your chin up! Hang in there! This too shall soon pass. God will forgive you for being angry at him, screaming at him in your car alone in the dark.

Greiving is a very personal matter. God, whoever yours may be, bless you!

Now go eat something! And forget about finding matching socks, it doesn't matter right now....

Much love!

My Dad had a triple bypass and valve repair this past October after a heart attack, rest assured that this is a common procedure and hope for the best. It's a long recovery process and I'm sure she will need your support. Good vibes sent.

well not good news but not bad, she still isn't off the ventilator. they have tried to take her off but everytime they do she isn't breathing right so they put her back on it. they are going to put a feeding tube in today since she hasn't had anything to eat since thursday. My sisters saw her last night and before they left she opened her eyes and started to tear up

I'm happy to hear she's doing well!
My dad had a triple bypass back when this was really a new procedure. Like 1977 or so.
Very scary, indeed.
