According to the experts its not technically been genetically modified, its just a simple hybrid.

It's just a common cross between several different forages. Almost any forage or plant can and will produce cyanide gas under the right conditions, particularly if high levels of nitrogen are available in the soil or fertilize. Iow, it happens naturally when conditions are just right and I suspect this cattleman unintentionally did everything "just right" for this to happen.
Again, T85 is NOT GMO

I'd be more worried aout the Army worm larvae outbreak in Canada and elsewhere than cyanide in a forage.
