When you say "group voting" are you suggesting that there was collusion? Is it not possible that he gained 20 votes in 2 days based on 20 people all choosing to rate him for their own reasons?

i dunno if it was what he said but its wierd how when that bar shows up your votes shoot up that fast. it is certinly possible that he said something to tick a group off but thats a lot of votes for a 2 days span. actually at first i thoguht he was quite an ass and ALMOST thoguht he was L67 for a minute lol then i realized the system wont let you on that fast and L67 got das boot only a few weeks before E showed up

I watched him for a couple of weeks, because I got the feeling he had been here before. I guessed I was wrong.
During one exchange, I felt sad for a guy who is suffering physical problems, and the resulting anxst that the medicines can, and DO cause. I gave him a plus. And I told him so. I noticed a more than imperceptible 'mellowing' towards me, and I was happy about that, for HIM.
Then, a day or so ago, he really blew the lid off, and I took away the positive...and told him so, AND WHY. I left it like that, but it seems it was to no avail. Sad. I sincerely hope he can find the way to being civil, yet firm and forceful. He made some real sense, sometimes , amongst the diatribes...and his work ethic is, apparently, to be praised.
E.Furgal...why didn't you try to share some more about yourself? Why no first name, just 'E'? It seemed to me you put up a barrier almost immediately, perhaps to hide behind because you knew what was coming?
You know, when I was a youngster, you were taught to respect your Elders, even if the reason was not apparent. From that premise, you had time to discover whether those 'Elders' really DID deserve respect...or not. I am sure most would agree an extended hand at a first meeting is going to go down better than a clenched fist direct to the mouth.

Don't let the board get to you... I know how worked up we can get, especially with politics... especially for those conservative Americans on here... it's our country going to pot. But you won't get anything accomplished by getting mad and leaving.

It has always been like this. Don't kid yourself. And that's how it should be. This is a very close knit community. The "regulars" here have earned respect over the years. Not only with their help in the tech sections, but also with their help in more private matters. They deserve that respect. The only thing that has changed over the years is that newcomers used to show some respect too for those regulars while nowadays, they come-in here with their "you're no better than I am" attitude and an incredible amount of arrogance.

I'm sorry, but that does not make you earn our respect.

What your saying is true cliff but i've seen on here as well someone belitteled for just expressing there opinion in a calm respectful manner.. its rare but still.. I mean god forbid someone new come on here and within days just post a thread saying there a libral and completley agree with say obama and his policy's.. pretty much a fart in church scenareo but with metaphorical forum lynching at the end.

I know there have been a lot of these lately but I'm sorry, when Brad says he is going to leave, I care and we as a group are missing out on a great guy. When some rude guy who has only been here since March says he's leaving, he's just asking for attention...guess you got it.

so because someone helps out in the tech section they deserve to spout off what ever opinions they choose in a disrespectful manner? is my opinion no more important that the next? now i can see purposefully talking crap to people getting you a ban but thats not what we are discussing. we all know full well that if you give an opinion even if respectful there are people that will dislike you for it and show it by rating you accordingly. and to say otherwise goes against human nature.... WE ALL JUDGE some can let it go and respect someone elses views, a lot cant. and that is FACT people cant handle others opinions if they differ from their own. and in OT no one is better than anyone else and that is the way it should be. you can have your opinion but yours is no more right than mine. now in tech section if you go spouting off that your opinion is right when it is not, that is not only wrong but can cause harm to someones vehicle or ones self becaus ethey trust your insight then yes thats wrong but again tech is not what we are talking about here its OT.

When people here start using the words "liberal", "lefty", "Marxist", "neo-conned", "commie" and "intellectual" (to name a few) it's the same as putting a gun in our mouths and screaming for us to shut up. It's intended to halt all discussion. I wouldn't invite these people to my party. Who wants that?

Then when someone voices their dissatisfaction with how OT has gone we put a gun in their mouth and call them pussies. I don't get it. I believe people should drive change even when they don't have the right. Has anyone suggested that we make OT worse and more uncivilized?
