We had our first, a beautiful baby girl named Valerie, 7 weeks ago
Well, she has been constantly bleeding since she gave birth, told her OB at 3 weeks, and when she went in for her 6 week checkup, her OB didn't do a pelvic exam or check her abdomen by hand. Said it was normal ( NOT ) and sent her on her way. I don't like this guy. He's just a drip. Missed her birth and sent some disgusting greasy midwife to deliver. Never called her after.
Last night we spent the night in the ER due to her having extreme pain in her mid section. They determined she has a large piece of placenta that is still attached to her uterine wall. For it to still be there this late after her giving birth, there is a big chance that they won't just be able to scrape and she will need a hysterectomy
We are talking about going after her OB for not catching this or really even looking at her. Every doctor we spoke to, as well as her birth coach and doulas, all said she should have had a standard pelvic exam, check up and there is no way he would have missed it.
There are a couple attorneys in our family but none deal with medical malpractice, so I figured it see if anyone here was or had any input
Thanks for letting me ramble. If you could keep her in your prayers, it would be greatly appreciated. We don't think we are done at one so hopefully things go well

Thank you guys!
1) Congrats on a healthy baby.
2) I don't practice where you live, so I can't give you legal advice. I can tell you that Texas now has very strict requirements to pursue a medical malpractice claim (for example, relatively short periods after filing suit to produce an expert report stating that the practicing physician failed to meet the standards of practice).
I have no idea what the rules are at your end of the world. I do hope you can find a competent Washington med-mal attorney to advise you. An EXTREMELY quick glance for WA case law indicates that WA holds physicians to a simple negligence standard (Mohr v. Grantham, 172 Wash.2d 844, 262 P.3d 490 (Wash. 2011)), or at least did so last year, which would be much more favorable to you there, than here.
But rules and laws can change very quickly, so you need to talk to someone competent who practices med-mal law in WA, and soon. Don't have any links up there, but the local bar associations may (or may not) have a referral system. Do a web search for Seattle Bar Association, or Washington Bar Association, and track down links.
Sorry that you & she are having to go through this.
Wish you well.

Wife had a similar thing that resulted from a mis-carriage. You may just have to get a DNC to get it cleaned out.
If she is not still at the hospital, I would suggest you get a second opinion ASAP. You've got to do research, not all doctors are just good by nature... some of them suck.

OMG that beyond horrible. As you know my wife is just over 8 months pregnant and we are due to have our 2nd Daughter any day now, our most recent visit with one of our doctors regarding the pregnancy (we have 3) said they will induce at 8 1/2 months if she has not already had the baby. She has been having complications with this pregnancy since the 1st trimester.
If one of our doctors were to have missed something this serious I would have freaked and would have a lawyer all over this matter. Honestly I can't give you any legal advice so I won't even try, but if you need to talk it out with someone you have my personal email address from our chats about my car, and feel free to ramble as much as it takes to relax. Make sure your wife is taken really good care of, and if you need anything, feel free to drop me a line and I'll do what I can. Don't worry about my car, family and is way more important.
P.S. your daughter is gorgeous. My daughter Arianna turns 3 on the 26th of October and coming from one first time Dad to another, your world is going to change in ways you can't imagine. Just wait till she starts talking and you have to say No to something then she looks up and Bats her eyelashes and says "Daddy Please" it just about melts you to your knee's.

Thank you everybody for the support. She had an exam with a new OB today and she is scheduled for a D&C this Thursday. Hopefully, everything will go well and we can put this behind us
My little girl is quite adorable though isn't she lol good looking parents might have something to do with it

That said, I think I'd have that doctor run up on a pike. He literally put your girlfriend's life in danger with his shenanigans. Hopefully she will get better soon.
