She 6, me 52.
We went to Safeco Field and watched The Mariners (6) play The Padres (0) on Memorial Day.

She flew in from Alaska for a vist and wanted to see a game.
I don't watch sports and never have, nor am I interested in the least.
But what won't you do for love...

I must say, I had a really good time.
I have glanced at it on other peoples TV's while passing through, but I gotta' say, TV don't really do it justice.
The scope of it really suprised me.

The whole feel was really.......relaxing.
It shocked me at how absolutly comfortable I felt there.

Me and my lil' buddy spent most of our time playing in the playland there & walking around eating hotdogs, popcorn, & fries.
I don't think she liked it as much as I did, but we had a really good time together.

I am quite suprised to even think it, but I gotta' tell ya', I WILL go again!

Been to about a hundred baseball games, mostly Yankee games. was in the stands for some of the 'most exciting' ones (2 perfect games, a few shutouts, amazing rivalry matchups, some walk-off homerun victories, flawless performances by amazing players, etc...) but it never really was about the game itself, it was the COMPANY. My family and friends who shared the experience with me MADE the games "perfect". Well, that and the tailgating with them before the games. Those special hours spent catching up and eatin'. I rarely, if ever watch 'em on TV.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the game, Boonie.

I hear ya

I used to enjoy teachig litle guys stuff, taking them places, stuff like that...

but, past 5-6 years there have been SOOOoooo many adults with demands "I want, I want, I want" and REFUSE to frack off or take "no" for an answer and I ended up with SOOoooo little time for myself and what I wanted, and perpetually angry about having to fight off salesmen "buy my crap, buy my crap, buy my crap"....and again, they aint taking "no".....and customers will drive ya up the wall. IMHO they should be shot on sight.

Everything I wanted had to take a back seat to what everybody else wanted.

The past 6-8 months or so, apart from the absoloute required work inter-relations, I have basically thrown the entire human species out of my life.

I go to work, I come home and play on the computer and watch TV. Weekends I'll get myself a dozen beer or 2. I dont even answe the phone anymore, I let it go to voicemail THEN decide if I want to return the call or not. If I decide "no", I dont have to argue this way.

I have NO interest at all anymore about doing anything for anybody, designing or building anything that can be of ANY benifit to the human species.

I no longer have ANY desire to be of use to anybody esides me.

Just got tired of fighting with them, and loosing the fights more often than not, every-single-day and every-single-minute.

They WILL keep arguing until the only 2 choices are beat the living pizz out of them and end up in jail---or loose the argument.

So the simple soloution to the problem-----get rid of them

By the way, just this last Saturday, the wife and I hosted eight "special" individuals at the bowling alley. I am used to , umm, dealing with one. I had a great time too, made greater by the great time they had.

Bowling is such a great way to do that.
All you gotta' do is get a ball to roll.
We cater to all abilities.

We have automatic doors, I built handi-ramps on both ends of the house, installed bumpers on every lane, we have 6 mobile ball ramps and we just bought an $800 battery powered ball ramp that rolls the ball automatically by way of a light-touch button the size of a saucer that sits in your lap, for those with very limited hand mobility.

I am rewarded with the biggest smiles.

I've only ever been to one MLB game... and it was so boring I actually fell asleep. I've been to a number of minor league games and I've found them to be much more fun all around.

I still prefer hockey

I know what you mean. I find baseball is the worst to watch on TV but one of the best to watch in person.

I'm still not sure why the batter has to walk around the plate 4 times, stretch, have a drink, and go shopping inbetween each pitch

Glad you had a good time Boonie. I usually try to make it to at least one Twins game every summer since they built Target Field (3-4 years ago, can't remember). The atmosphere there is something that I could not explain. Back when they played in the Metrodome it felt like the major league game it was but at Target Field you get a feeling of the local ball park...you can almost hear the ping of an aluminum bat.

Over the past few years I've watched more and more Twins baseball and now is the only "professional" sport I watch. I've even gotten the wife into it, she isn't the biggest fan but usually perks up from her tablet when the Twins have a good play. There's something about baseball that other sports will never touch.

Yup.
No law says I have to answer the door or the phone.
My time is just that.
I own it.

And that includes shizz I don't want to hear.
If I choose to sell my time, that is my choice.
MY choice.

Some people got to pay me to listen to them.

Went to a game last night and going to another tonight. The games are only three innings long and there's a mechanical pitcher and four strikes before the tee is used but it's baseball and it's fun (I'm an assistant manager).

Youth baseball is still strong in this area but Portland doesn't even have a triple A team anymore.
And the local community college just dropped their baseball program because of budget problems.
What a shame, IMO but support is really lacking for smaller teams.

Love the 6-12 YO level, coached for 20 years.
Tons of memories for sure.
