I've been trying to decide if I want the Blendtec or the Vitamix.
I read several reviews and decided on the Blendtec. Vitamix tried to copy the Blendtec's jar and was sued. I figured if the Blendtec was worth copying, it's worth buying. I'm still very impressed with it.
Are you that indecisive or is it just that low of a priority?
Low on the priority list.

I know. I spent less time picking mutual funds for my 401k.

I had not heard this. I thought that Vitamix was the original from like the 70s.

I've been vacillating for months on that same decision. It's a lot of coin to throw down on a blender. I ultimately decided on the Blendtec, although I haven't actually bought it yet. Mainly because the price is actually better between comparable models, and I think Blendtec's warranty is better. The reviews for both are great so you can't really make a decision based on that. I think Vitamix charges more just because they have more of a history and you pay for the name.

Vita-mix makes warm soup. It's hard to say a whole lot in the face of that comment.
Blendtec does it too. Although, I'm not sure I want my soup heated by friction. It seems to me all that friction would be accelerating the oxidation process, or at least destroying the nutrients that I'm trying to get by making my own soups fresh. I suspect naturally heating them on a stove would be less damaging. I'm not stating that as a fact, just makes sense to me.
or really... I'm prefer the blondes but in this case the Blendtec was the winner.
We do make soups in our Blendtec and it works great. We just don't do it often.
Also note, the Blendtec fits nicely on your typical countertop while fitting under the cupboards.
Which one do you have? I decided I'm pulling the trigger this weekend. I think I'm going to pick up the Total Blender with a Wildside jar & a Twister jar. Less than 500 on Amazon.
