If you own a 3800, you know how restrictive the exhaust is, especially the left side. After weeks of looking for exhaust for my series II 3800, the cheapest thing I could find was $600+shipping through WCF. Now, I don't mind on spending an extra dollar, but I can't justify close to $950 (after ceramic coating) for a set of headers. My solution? Since I can weld, make my own exhaust. I can readily get the other parts through Summit, paying about $100 for the required tubing and collectors. The only thing I'm left with is to find a header flange that will bolt up to my motor. This is where you guys come in. Since I'm on my schools FSAE team, we have a local company that has done a LOT of laser cutting for us. I'm almost finished with my CAD drawing (and you guys are more than welcome to check it out once I'm done) for a custom header flange. It will be 3/8 thick steel with 1 1/2" ports. The company that will be doing the laser cutting rough quoted me (haven't sent them the drawing yet) $40 a flange if I get 2 ordered, $25-30 if I get 36 or so. If this is something you're interested in, please post here. I'm not asking for money yet. I should have an exact pricing tuesday of next week. With this said, they should not be more than $100 a set (most likely they will be less) if you can promise $100 for a set, then I'll count you in (I say $100 a set because if I say $80, then they turn out to be $85, I don't want you to cry and moan, then back out) So, any interest from anyone?

Or you can reuse the flange from the old exhaust..just cut off the old pipes going to it and open the holes up larger if need for the new pipe..just an idea

You would have to get another right side manifold as the left side is cast steel and would not be weldable.

WCF has all the stuff you need if you would like to donate your arm & possibly a leg. Ceramic coated headers for $1300? Doug chase gave me a better estimate for equal-length headers and full exhaust to the tip exhaust system in t-304 stainless, that was a year ago though, prices vary. Also it was for an 88 2.8.
