OK folks here we go again, This post is to provide information about the "New" Indy that has shown up lately for anyone that may be interested in buying it, and to those that just appreciate seeing a Indy Fiero frozen in time, So let's leave the attitudes and name calling out of this one. This car for all means and purposes is a new car and it has 9.7 miles on it at this time. I have looked this car over good, (and some of you know I look at Fiero's every day) and the only 2 things I can find that time has done to it is (1) the clear on the front facia has yellowed some, not bad, not sure why, no peeling just faded a little, might even come out with a good wax? and (2) the A/C needs a little freon, seems it leaked down some over the last 21 years, other that those 2 things in my opinion, it is exactly the way it was in 1984. The only other things some of you will ask is where are the door decals? Well, it seems those were installed by the dealers, and for some reason they just didn't get put on the car, and have gotten lost over the years, so we don't have them. Pictures will be coming, $Rich$ will be handling those. For those of you wanting to make an offer, I would appreciate that you do it by email or with a PM. I will answer any and all questions concerning this car as honestly as I can, if I don't know the answer, I will get it. I have been given permission to be the agent for this car and it will be handled by me. Thank You for taking the time to read this.

The yellowing is perfect and a sign of a original paint job. The facia and rear were put on later and painted later. They were also a new design which my understanding the mold process and possibly the primer caused this future yellowing. Alomst every orignal Indy I have seen has this so it is not a problem. Hope this helps. Rick B
She is right about the door decals too. I believe most were actually stowed in the trunk,if not installed by the dealer. The floormats were usually behined the pass seat as well.

That's a beautiful car. I hate that it's got a dealer sticker on it. I'd hope that would come off without harming the paint. Not worth trying, though.
Do you have any info on how the car was stored, or how often it was started, fluids changed, etc.? With only 9.7 miles, it obviously wasn't driven, or even rolled around much. I've seen cars delivered to dealerships with more miles than that. When I bought my new '87 Grand National in the Fall of '87, it had 34 miles on it. (probably a few test drives)

I worked at a cadillac dealer and performed all the PDI's(pre delivery inspections) All cars are delivered off the truck with less than 1 mile. My job on the PDI was to driver the car, usually 5-7 miles, to find if anything was wrong. Believe me, there are plenty of things wrong, but not all the time. On the PDI you also add fluids like the washer fluid, full tank of gas, etc. Some vehicles, you add running boards, luggage racks, remove protective coverings. In the case of the Indy's, you were probably supposed to install the stickers. But Most elected not to do it, because the sales department was afraid it might make it harder to sell the car.
With 9 miles on this car, I would imagine the PDI was performed and then the car was driven on and off a trailer.

Thanks for the info!
I do remember when the Indys were new, the door decals came in the trunk. You got the decals with every Indy, but the dealer only installed them if you wanted them. Many people liked the Indy styling, but didn't want the billboard graphics down the side of the car. Pontiac has done that as SOP for many of their pace cars. I believe the '89 Turbo Trans Am Indy Pace Car and the '80 or '81 Turbo Trans Am Indy and Daytona pace cars were done the same way.

Thanks for the pictures. So that's what a new Fiero looks like. I'm going to save the pictures--give me something to aim for on a restoration--tho finding a center console that's that nice is pretty problematic.
Good luck on selling it. (Outa my price range, but I enjoyed the pics.)

found this in the archives, so yes this indy has the correct tires, but some indys did come from the factory w/lettered tires!

I stand corrected and archived some of my pictures to see Eagle GT white letters on a guy in our groups 17,000 mile car. Thank you for the QPV and U code as I did not know that one nor did anyone when I posted to find out what it meant awhile back. Thanks,,Rick

you're welcome rick, i learned something to, i thought all replicas came w/white lettering. so i had to stop everything this morning and go the mechanic shop that has my indy(ac was removed by previous owner) and check the rpo's. i have qpv. yea-hoo!!! greg
What a beautiful car. I am glad you posted picures first. I wish my Wheels were in as nice shape , but the interior is about as nice as mine. Sure would like to have another, but no way to get that past the wife. I would be like that Fiero trike I saw in a few posts back if I bougth it! If you keep the vehicle or sell it, I hope the car will make a car show nearby. The lady deserves a coming out party. -j

Beautiful car. Now I have some pics to look at while restoring my Indy.
I had never seen that instructions for the handbrake. I would like a reproduction of that it might prevent some idiot from driving with the brake on when I get the car inspected.

I saw that it didn't make the reserve price on Ebay, what now?
Honestly I want everyone to think about this for a minute. The owner invested 15K in this car 21 years ago and never drove it and kept it in "new" condition mainly as an investment hoping it would be worth more in 20 years. I think he deserves getting his money back with a little profit. The owner and myself wanted to sell this to someone that would appreciate what it is and preserve it, and take the money and buy his granddaughter a new car, but since most people think it's not worth the asking price, and since this is still a "new" car, he is going to give it to the granddaughter on her birthday. I didn't want that to happen, but it is out of my hands now, I posted it here first, and then on Ebay, and the best offer was $9,500, I'm sorry, but that won't buy this piece of history. Lori

MsLori, If the girl is 16 and this is her first car, I would wholeheartedly discourage the gentleman from giving it to a young driver. If she is into showing it and taking care of it, then it would be a great gift. But if her heart isn't into maintaining this car, it would be a shame. Also, I'd hate to see it in a ditch or T-boned in an intersection with10-12 miles on it. We all know how we were with our first cars after owning them for a while (well, maybe some of us!).
This type of car shouldn't be a learners' vehicle. Perhaps you can ask the owner to try later when the economy improves. I'd like to have a shot at it, but don't know if I could right now. What price would interest the owner? TG

I agree with you 100% which is why I have been trying desperately to sell it, to not let that happen, but it is not my decision and not my car, it will break my heart to see her get it, and I think she would be better off in something else, but like I said, it is out of my hands now, if someone here feels it is worth the 17K that I feel it is worth and would take to buy it, please contact me soon as time is running out.

Also if no recalls were done on this car you may have a fire and loose it. I would make sure all of them are done if it is planned on driving it. This car belongs in a musuem and not driven ever as it is the lowest mileage Fiero Pace car I bet. Rick B
