I need to sell it to fund another purchase. Here are the details (photos coming soon):
87 GT
The good: -124,633 miles now on car, but a remanufactured long-block was put in at 119712 miles (only 4,921 miles on the engine now) - $2061 receipt from Robinson Company Motorworks in Philladelphia comes with the car. Engine starts right up, but clutch is not bled, so it won't move very far without pumping the clutch. -Seller told me the 5-speed was rebuilt for $900, then installed, but never run. (The owner had a bike accident and never finished the install) -Power windows, mirrors, locks, trunk and defogger. They are all there, but are slow -Manuals are included -Sunroof -A/C ready but compressor was not installed with new engine. The compressor is in the trunk) -No rust visible under the trunk carpet -Headlights pop up like it's cold outside!
Not so good: -Yellow paint looks like it came from a can. It is scratching/peeling off to show gold underneath -Interior is trashed - although the seats are not unuseable. -Rear end doesn't appear to be fully installed. The rear wheels arent straight because the install was not complete. I have not even looked under there yet to see what should be hooked up, but it has been stored inside since I bought it, so the bugs have moved out. -Windshield is broken
I'll be waiting for a good offer since I am not in a hurry to get it out of here. If good money doesn't come in, I'll pull the engine and trans and part this one out since a nice rebuilt 5-speed is hard to find.
There are some shots of the car before I washed it off at https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/033322.html along with the 88 GT and a 35k-mile 3.4 I am putting up for sale. I'd be glad to work out a deal for all three for the right $. I'll put the photos below, too.
Thanks for looking.

She's still waiting patiently for someone to put her back on the road. She told me speed this up and list her locally, so I'll hit Craigs List tonight.

No time to even put her on Craigs list yet, so BUMP in the night...
She's gotta go to make more room for the Mach 1.

you wont be able to tell by pulling up the carpet. you will have to actually reach you hand in the wheel well and feel the top inside of it ( under the cruise control on the drivers side and under the battery box on the passengers side) almost every fiero i have ever come across has been rusted out in these areas even with no rust anywhere else. also is the battery tray rusted???
thanks in advance

Sorry, but I got back from work late tonight. I won't be home during daylight hours until Thursday, so I will feel-up the wheel wells for you then.

my brother has a 1993 geo storm gsi it has a stock 180 hp dohc motor that can easily be boosted to 300 with a isuzu impulse rs turbo kit. nice car looks like something u would see on fast and the furious. has 15" momo racing wheels wrapped in 195/50/15 tires. car is clocked for 140mph stock. interested? its black on the out side and black and blue on the inside with neon lights and a 800 watt alpine/pioneer system. 5 speed manual. 174,262 miles motor dont smoke and doesnt make any noise due to having hyaudrolic lifters. was fully tuned up about a week ago. my brother hasnt even put 50 miles into it and already has dropped 2 grand. 40 mpg on highway. great lil car if u would like to trade

I am selling this 87 Fiero GT because I don't even have time to get to my other three Fieros and my wife wants the driveway cleared. I have done nothing to the car since I bought it a few months ago, so here is what I know about the car:
I bought it from a guy who started the rebuild, but had a bike accident and could not continue the work. I don't want it to rot away in my driveway, so it's time to pass it on to someone who wants a great project.
The car has less than 5,000 miles on the rebuilt long block. I have the reciept on this to show where the work was done and the mileage on the car at the time of install. It cost over $2,000 for the engine work alone.
The car also has a completely rebuilt Getrag 5-speed transmission with absolutely NO miles on it. I do not have a receipt for this one, but I see no reason to not believe the seller. He said it cost $900 to have the tranny rebuilt.
The car does start, but the rear suspension has not been finished, so it is not driveable as it sits. I cannot rev the engine very high, so there is some adjustment to be made there, too.
The interior is trashed from sitting outside for a year or more, so most of it needs to be replaced. Power windows move and the power mirrors are there but not hooked up.
The paint is not good. It looks like someone painted it on with a spray can. It is scratched off in many places. I believe the original color was gold. The rear brakes are off and the A/C parts are in the trunk. I have one of the GT sail panels to go with the car.
There is no rust in the engine compartment, under the carpet or around the battery tray - the places these cars typically get rust. I was going to part the car out to get the nice engine and tranny, but I hate to send another good frame to the junk yard.
The car is being sold locally, so I reserve the right to cancel this auction if it sells here in MD.
I'm not in a big hurry so the price for the complete car won't change, but I'll keep posting information just the same.
The weather is getting nice here and this car needs to be on the road! I think I'll have to part her out before I take any less.
(and my wife wants to buy the neighbor's Miata. I can't talk her into letting me finish this one for her since she wants something with spotless paint. Maybe I'll have to show her some photos of some nice looking Fieros so she can see what they CAN look like. I don't want a damn Miata in the driveway!)

Hey, I once did a engine swap on a Miata...Mustang 5.0 fits in there snuggly. Just a thought. Otherwise, if you part it out, I'll give you my needs. Dave

Hmm - a 5.0 Miata to go with the Mach 1. I still don't like it...
I'll let you know - and by the way, thanks for the advice on the overheating Fiero. I finally found the problem. Steel coolant line on the header... Duhhh.

off topic and about the overheating. For your information, my Fiero would run a little hot (about 200 degrees) which I wasn't happy with. I made a hood similiar to Archie's Warber hood and now it stays around 190 degrees. Glad you found the problem. I am in search of a second four speed Muncie transmission that works fine. If you know of one, let me know. Dave

Anyone looking for a $1000 summer project? I really don't think this car is far from being on the road. I was told a lot was done before his accident. Heck -it's got a rebuilt trans the guy paid $900 for - on top of $2000 for a new engine...
Now I need the space for my boat!

Hey Andy, I am back in on my mid-tour leave. If I were here permanently this would be tempting. "High Impact" was at Manas yesterday. I would like to get your band back a few more times this year. Anyway, free bump at the least.

I guess I could pull the engine and trans, keep the trans for the Fino and sell the engine. If she doesn't go soon, the frame may end up at the scrap yard.
Anyone want a good engine? I'm open to $1000 for the car or an offer just for the engine.
Please don't ask for other Fiero parts just yet. I am still hoping to sell it whole.
