I'm not sure how serious I am about selling, but I don't have the time or the resources to finish this car in a timely fashion. The $3,000 voucher from the State of Texas is burning a hole in my pocket and it is tempting to let them crush this car and I go get a new Cobalt as a daily driver.
The engine has about 5,000 miles on a rebuild with about 115K total. The engine purrs like a kitten. Just passed Texas Inspection, including emissions.
The shifter is a bit tricky but it works fine when you get used to it.
There is hardly anything that I haven't replaced...
here's a list off the top of my head, (from front to back):
New radiator Newer fascia New Firehawk Indy 500 tires new brake calipers (loaded) new OEM rubber brake hoses new rotors, drilled and slotted new shocks New sunroof mounting tabs new dew wipes, (including the impossible to find right side) Nicer dash from an 85 GT nicer dash cluster with brighter bulbs new dash speakers (Pioneer TS-A4103) New clutch pedal Rodney's adjustable banjo New clutch master cylinder New select cable Newer fuel tank Newer fuel sender, (recalibrated) New eBrake cables New fuel pump Rebuilt a/c compressor rebuilt alternator New waterpump New left axle/CV boot new struts / 4 wheel alignment New pan gasket New cat converter new belts New front seal New fan switch newer temp sender New EGR New TPS New O2 sensor new slave cylinder New battery tray New trunk seal Original deckild with spoiler damaged, (Spoiler is fine, needs to be put on replacement decklid) Newer rear fascia
All the Indy specific parts are present. Wheels need refinishing, (not presently on the car, but included) Seats have worn out bolsters, (not presently installed, but included)
That's all I can think of, I'm probably forgetting something,
J Scott when I bought my 85GT I had the same kind of sensitive shifter and grew used to using a light touch to find first gear. I took off the cover for the shifter and found the spot weld had failed on the detent post. The post and the detent spring were laying in tunnel beside the shifter. I put another shifter in and end of problem. I drilled out the spot weld and reassembled the post and detent spring then rewelded the post in place now I have a spare shifter mechanism in case the replacement fails.
I have some pictures of PROUD 1 that I took at the Fiero Shop in Toronto when Pete brought it to a GTA Fiero Club meeting to show off the engine swap it had the black & red & primer cammoflage paint job then

I don't know if all Muncies are touchy, but finding first takes some practice. Maybe it's just me.
The fact that Proud-1 is still in primer some three years later is part of the reason I can't finish this Indy.

Don't worry too much, if he does crush it, it will just make all the other indy's more valueable by increasing the rarety of the car. I would never crush my Fiero for $3000, it will be worth more than that after a few more years.

All I can say is if you crush it, do two things. 1) Register the VIN at http://www.fieropacecar.com, as being crushed. (makes mine & everyone else's car worth more). 2) Take off the parts that are good that you can (swap them with stock coupe parts). The air cleaner assy. comes to mind: not many have the original paint in good condition. Your's may even be better than mine. I would be interested in buying a driver's side red floor mat, but I doubt it's good if it has one. A Cobalt??? I'd rather have the Indy. And you wouldn't have payments. Use the money to fix the cars you have. If I had plenty of cash I'd buy the thing from you to save it, even though it's not worth 3 grand in the current market. I personally hate to see rare cars (anything with 2,000 or less made) crushed. ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"

OK I’ll be Monte Hall here and “Let’s Make A Deal”
I’ll bring you down a crushable Fiero. You give me the Indy (with all the Indy goodies) You take the POS to be crushed And I’ll take the Indy home. You can sleep at night knowing you didn’t crush an Indy And I’ll have another one ????

Hmmmm, interesting... The Catch 22 that the state of Texas has us in though is that to qualify the car has to be registered in the State of Texas, and pass inspection...including emissions. But any car that can pass emissions doesn't really need to be crushed. I've spend $$$ to get my Indy to pass. Most likely a POS Fiero will not.

But what about a POS Fiero that is already registered in Texas?
I know where a number are that are running that I can get Ohio to buy and then swap for you....wait a minute...why would I let Ohio do that??? I could do that myself.....

If it went to David....YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Assuming David doesn't change his mind he's buying it. So Heart o'Texas Fiero Owners will be getting another Indy. I've put my heart and soul into it, but I'm burned out. Tim, I expect you to guide him through the process.
Stephen I hate to tell you I didn't even go with the Cobalt SS... got an Aveo instead as my new daily driver.
