ive got a Dell d600 laptop, right now it has a hard drive in it and is 100% functional, my problem is ive got another dell d600 thats a 1.8GHZ that has a bad hard drive, im going to remove the drive from the 1.4GHZ laptop and probably stick the bad drive in the 1.4GHZ laptop.
ive got a carry bag, and a/c charger for the laptop its complete 100% working and tested, ive also got the dell re-install cd's (or atleast copys of them, but i think i have originals as well)
with good hard drives these have been selling on ebay for around $300-350 WITHOUT the carry case.
i can supply an extra battery with the laptop as well.
specs are:
dell D600 laptop 1.4GHZ processor, 512 megs of DDR 2100 laptop ram (two 256 sticks) it has a wireless card in it and a cd burner / dvd reader combo drive, has the windows XP professional tag on the back. two USB ports, a 9 pin serial port, and a LPT printer port, it also has what apears to be a S video output port, a VGA port and the modem/lan ports
this laptop is 100% functional, and wont be DOA (other than the hard drive) i wont warranty it because its about 3 years old, maybe 4.
its a excellent laptop in average shape, no major wear/tear on it, no cracks, and ill throw in a NEW set of office 97 if i can find my disks (worth a couple bucks by themselves id guess)
id like to get around $250 for it, it will cost $50-80 bucks for a hard drive depending on its size.
im trying to get some money together so i can buy a car from archie

ill try to get you pictures of it this evening, ive actually think ive located a hard drive for it (40 gig) that passed the diagnostic tests although ill still sell it without a hard drive, but i will sell it with one as well.
ill make sure ive got photo's of it in the bios screen, and if i can get the hard drive loaded, ill take photo's of it completely loaded as well.
i may chance into a couple more of these laptops, but they are all 1.4ghz
i did find all the disks for it, the XP professional disk is service pack 1 a so once loaded it will need the updates ran.

ill have to see what i can do, im holding the first laptop till the 22nd of the month, if the first person who asked for it doesnt pay for it by then it will move on to volt, ive got a line on these laptops, and ill see if i can get a couple more, im only picking the best of the ones ive seen, some of them have the paint scratched of, dents, cracks in the plastic, im not going to try to sell those, im only getting the best ones, these are used laptops, some are in excellent condition and dont look like they have ever been used, and others look like they have been beaten to death, im not going to get the rough ones.
ill keep you guys informed.

Just a note on the Dell laptops. There was a bunch of these that were declared dead as the CD or DVD drive would not show up on the Bios screen. The bios sets the master/slave not a jumper pin, thus a bad or missing HDD gives a no optical drive error. There were no real problems with most of those laptops that a new or replacement HDD would not fix. I put several back in service that I purchased as deceased laptops this way. The "D" series laptops are a very good product. Joe

we had about 500 or so of the d600 here at work, we are replacing them now with newer units, im trying to buy back the better ones from state surplus, thats where i have been getting them, lucky me i saved all the software and other items here at work so i can get mostly new disks with them, sometimes i may have to make a copy of the original disk.
the troopers beat the crap outta some of these, and some of the higher ranking guys that were close to retirement never even turned them on.
the one thing i will say, these will have absolutely no warranty on them other than having zero problems when you recieve them, i can get replacement parts in most cases, but the harddrive is a wear/tear item on a laptop and it could last years, or only days, you never know, one of these laptops i replaced the hard drive in it 3 times in 2 months, others have lasted years with no issues.

Due to the fragile nature of the HDD, and its smaller size for the laptops, it is the weakest link in the chain. Often times I purchased referbs from New Egg I think it was. I never use IBM's, or Hitachi. I hate to have to reolad a second HDD and not get paid.

sadly most of these do have the IBM "deathstar" deskstar hard drives, when we order replacements at work, i always order a Western digital or a fujitsu.
