I've gotten the design and prototype made, now for some minor adjustments to make it perfect. Here is a preview of the prototype I had made...
This version has the letters IMSA cut through the bar. Since the method used doesn't allow for as much detail as I'd like, and the opportunity for dirt and muck to collect in the lettering, anything going in he bar will be engraved instead. Engraving will not be what you would get at some place like Things Remembered. The whole font gets put into the material similar to the way FIERO stands out in the badge but in reverse, or sunken into the badge.
The badge above shows exactly the way they'll look minus the IMSA cutout (which is going to be engraved and photos of that will follow when it's done- probably on Monday) and with some minor adjustments in making a couple very small spots along the outer badge frame smoother where the frame starts to bend on the sides and the bottom point. The next and final version will also be slightly thinner than the one shown, but not much. I thought that it sat a little too high, I want it to be similar to thickness to badges and emblems out there on other vehicles without looking too ostentatious.
Here are a couple shots that give an idea of size, which you can see shows that they are equal in size in both height and width...
As this comes along, I'll add more pics and take more time to shine the badge up a little better. I'm getting a better idea about the final cost for a custom badge, I'm thinking it's going to be in the $79 to $89 range. I don't expect to sell many, but at least it'll be an option for those that are looking to complement all the hard work they've put into customizing their Fiero(s).
Fonts that can be used are unlimited. If I don't have it, in most cases I can get it without any added cost. Here's an idea for the 3800sc badge...
I like that the size is the same as the originals, I loved the last ones but was a bit turned away due to the size. Count me in for one with the word (or logo type if possible) that says "Formula." Do you ship to the Bahamas? If not I still have a business address in Georgia. But surely count me in either way!

I have bought about every badge you have made, and they just keep getting better! Can I trade a version 1 gold 3800 Supercharged badge for a polished 3800SC one like pictured above? I'll pay any difference in trade value.
Thanks, Greg

That's very pretty. But a bit more than I would spend, especially given the size.
That was off the top of my head. There's a fair amount of money that is going into making this the best I can have made (in my opinion) so the first ones are costing me more than what I'm charging. I'm going to see what I can do to bring the price down when I get a revised quote back from the shop. One thing that may help is coming up with more jobs to send the shop hoping that the more business will afford me a better rate overall. I hadn't wanted to bring this to light just yet but after holding this prototype in my hand I couldn't keep it to myself any longer. I agree that it's not cheap, but it certainly is more than in line with what can be gotten from a place like Motorhead Jewelry, though to their credit it would more than likely have more detail and color. As far as adding more detail, I haven't thought about what would be added, and it would take some work to get to a point where I would feel comfortable doing that. This is the best I can come up with so far, and I have to say that I'm happy with how it looks. Sometimes adding too much detail takes away from the design. Like I said, I'll see what I can do about the pricing...
Just a note about the size and cost relationship, regardless of the size the processes are still the same where the piece gets cut out of solid aluminum then detailed on another machine. So far this seems to be the best way to create the base (badge) which can then be economically customized. Doing it on one machine (CNC) would cost more in programming than what we've come up with so far. The biggest cost consideration is the time to set these up and run them. The material is the lessor of the cost. They could be made larger for a little bit more if needed but going with this size makes it more compatible with what it would be replacing. Comments that I've received over the past year or more is that people are concerned that it matches the stock badge size. Personally, I wouldn't go bigger as it doesn't seem proportionate to the car overall. Even at this size, it has very good detail, I'd say as good as or better than the stock badge. I'd also add that it's more substantial and has a certain richness than the plastic stock badge offers.

Something like this?
For those that might be looking for font ideas dafont is a good place to look. I'm happy to send anything anywhere, but I'm finding that I'm not too happy about accepting Canadian dollars for payment.

Greg,
Let me see what I can do. My first priority is to make sure that I get all the emblems sent out and Troy's badge done, then I can start to concentrate on getting some orders together.

Yep, that is exactly what I was thinking. My Formula is white so I was thinking of either anodizing it black or "backing" the emblem up with a dark-grey back. LEt me know when and if you go to production and I will send you the bucks!

They are very nice, but you are one of the lucky ones that actually got them. I personally would never recommend doing any sort of business with Andrew...........

Troy is a close friend to Andrew as they live close. He is trying to help him it seems which is really unfair after what Andrew did. You should feel ashamed of yourself for trying to push how great he is after the stunts he pulled so far. I personally am offended by what you are doing Troy. Rick

FIRST !! YOU SHOULD NOT TALK ABOUT THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW!! I have never met Andrew and as far as "they live close" ( Total Estimated Time: 3.0 hours 43 minutes Total Estimated Distance: 210.71 miles ) . Andrew may not be a close friend, but I personally have not had a problem with him and only speak from experience. I can only speak to the quality of the product that was sent to me and it was Top Notch. If my actions have offended you, GET OVER IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not pissed about you having your own narrow minded opinion but to lie is just unexceptible !!!!! Before you talk about or pass judgement on others first check yourself. At the end of the day I hope he will make good on your order and when he does just PM me and I will buy them from you, I'm sure you would feel ashamed to advertise his badges on your car.

Once again I can only talk about my experience with his product that started this thread.
Cory you know you want one..... If not why are you here?

We all want one are you kidding, thats the problem.
Seriously. I do want one. But I will NEVER order one from Andrew. I thought it was in poor taste that this thread was bumped back up with a simple "great product". Are you aware that the person who started this thread is a scam artist? If you are aware, and STILL bumped this thread with no warning, then I give it two thumbs down, not just one. I respect you Troyboy, and what you have done with your beautiful car, but I do not agree with the bumping of this thread.
Honestly, I do want a badge that looks like that, hence my "watching the thread".
OK OK I give already Cory, BUYER BEWARE , seriously I hope things work out for you guys and I in noway intended to hurt your cause. I was just happy with my badge and wanted to express it. I hope this all gets worked out because these badges would make a great addition to the fiero after market.
