I recently bought an '86 GT on which both rocker panels are shattered. So I'm looking for rocker panels for both sides of the car.
It would be nice to get ones which are already silver/grey colored, but that might be hoping for too much.
Shipping may or may not be a problem as although I'm in Canada (Vancouver BC), I have a friend's "weekend retreat" address just across the border in Blaine Washington 98230 that I use for any items bought from the States. The only catch is that anything shipped there has to be sent by USPS (not FedEx or UPS).
It's possible there might conceivably be rocker panels available at local wrecking yards here, I haven't looked yet. I have no idea what rocker panels are worth, so I'd actually appreciate it if someone could post here or PM me with what the going price is for GT rocker panels.
And if you have some rocker panels available to sell for an absolutely amazing price, please post and/or contact me as well.
rockers can go for in between 50 to 100 bucks a side...depends on who is selling them...good luck...tim
Yes, and I guess it also depends on where they're coming from and what the shipping fees are. Heck, it I suppose it even makes a difference what color they are as it would be nice get ones the correct color and just bolt them on.

I might be able to help you out. I know where an '87 SE is and I think the rockers are in good shape, but I won't know until Monday. The bad news is they're black.
Probably looking at $100 + shipping. LMK if you are interested.....I can grab them on Monday if they are undamaged and have them shipped out that same day.

Okay, maybe this is where I'm confused. I also have an '84 SE which is definitely not "aero-bodied". I didn't realize that the '87 SE would be any different. Too many body styles and variations...
mrfiero, could you hold off of those rockers for a few days please. There's someone locally I'm still trying to reach who might have some, and if I'm really lucky, someone locally (or even afar) will actually have rockers that are the right color - silver/grey!

Body-wise, '86-'87 SE's are the same as the '85 GT.....an aero-bodied notchy. All '84 Indy's, '85-'88 GT's & '86-'87 SE's share the same "ground effects" (i.e. rockers and lower moldings). Now you know!
No prob on waiting other than the fact that I will be leaving for the Fiero Factory's swap meet Tuesday afternoon and won't be back until the end of the month. Then I am delivering a Fiero to Kansas City and when I get back from that I am off for Vegas for good(finally!). Plus, the '87 SE will likely be gone by the time I get back from Alabama, so it doesn't look good.
LMK if you don't come up with anything and I will see what I can come up with in Vegas.

Thanks mrfiero, I'm now fully edumacated in regards to Fiero body styles.
I guess there's no real hurry for me to get these rockers. I can "borrow" them from another Fiero I have here which needs clutch work. It's an '84 which the previous owner had put Formula body panels on, and yes, the rockers are silver/grey.
I didn't really want to take them off this other Fiero, because I'll obviously have to replace them when this Fiero is again driveable, but it might be worthwhile doing this if it allows me to wait until the perfect set of "aero-body" rocker panels make themselves available. Preferably silver/grey and attractively priced.
So yes folks, I'm still looking for rockers, but fortunately there's no urgency on my part.

You could try contacting Ed Parks at the Fiero Factory ( http://www.thefierofactory.com ). As you can see from that website, at the Fiero Factory, "Used parts from over 100 Fieros are available for shipping."
Accordingly, they might have on hand both the correct model and color of the rocker panels you're seeking.
I've found Ed to be a helpful guy who has been quite knowledgeable about any Fiero parts for which I've been searching. (Like you, I've an `86 GT as well.)
Hi Patrick! Obviously I can´t help you out with the panels..but I can give you a few timely tips about removing and replacing rocker panels. As you know, i just finished painting my Fiero, and it was a mainly panel-off job. Removing and refiting them is a risky business, if you haven´t done it before. The plastic seems to get very brittle when they are getting old. The tabs that locate them to the fenders, both front and rear, are very fragile, as are the return bits at the bottom of the fenders. They are VERY easily broken, and almost irrepairable..so I might suggest not to remove the ones from the other Fiero..you might end up having to replace all the components on both cars. maybe somebody else who has done it regularly will be able to advise you better, but this is what I ran into when I removed mine. And..don´t forget you will have to drill out the 1/4 inch rivets!! You can get new ones, and the rivet gun for them, from Fiero store. Good luck..I hope I don´t have to do that again in a hurry Nick

project34, thanks for the info. Yes, I've heard good things about Ed Parks. I'll keep him in mind if I run out of options locally and here at the forum.

Hi Patrick! Obviously I can´t help you out with the panels...
Aw come on Nick, send me your rockers.
Good tips on the riskiness of removing the rocker panels off the other Fiero if I don’t absolutely have to. It’s been awhile since I looked, but I suspect the previous owner of the ‘84 with the Formula panels did not use the factory rivets when he installed these panels. I seem to recall seeing some other type of fastener. I’ll have to take a closer look this week.
If worse comes to worse, I can obviously still drive the GT with damaged rockers until I find suitable replacements. I’m still hoping to find some locally, but if not, there’s gotta be someone loitering in the Mall here at PFF who’s got a couple to sell.

There's a fella locally who's twice told me now that his extra aero rockers are mine if I want them, and then twice now when it comes time for me to go pay him and pick them up, he just sort of disappears. I don't get it.
Anyway, the situation isn't desperate, but it would be nice to find some aero rocker panels (preferably silver/grey) in good shape for a decent price in the near future.

I have a pristine set from a low miles 86GT. Too nice to do a real low price on. I plan to put them on ebay later this week. $90.00 each plus shipping. from 60532. Keep in mind its not the weight, but the size of box which would be 72" x 9" x 6". Weight only 12-15lbs. I just shipped one to the East coast from here (Chicago area) and shipping was $22.00.

Thanks for the offer Paul, but no, $180 (plus shipping) is considerably more than I wish to pay.
Although in retrospect it was possibly a mistake not to buy them, I've twice passed on offers to buy a pair of aero rockers for $50 because they were the wrong color.
