Hi all!

As many of you already know, I'm on a desperate quest for a 5sp Formula.

I have $2,100 cash in hand, ready to buy, and adding to it every 2 weeks if needed.

Prefer close to IL and as rust free as possible, but if you have a running (or easily fixed) Formula in my price range, please post info and pics here.

Thanks!

Thanks, I'll contact him. Looks like a likely rust candidate, though.

Thanks for the replies!!

Let's see some more!

You might try posting a wanting to buy add in the Mattoon, IL newspaper. There is a guy in Mattoon that purchased a red 88 Formula t-top 5 speed car from Darth Vader (Brian Butts in Sullivan - email used to be: brian_b@mchsi.com) a few years back. I never saw the guy drive it, I think he just put it in the garage. I seem to remember he purchased it for about 2500 to 3000. It was around 110K and came from the St Louis area.

The rest of the 88's in that town left with me!

There used to be an near rust free 88 coupe 4 cyl/auto in Charleston, IL - used to be my brother's and had 86K when sold. Dave Wallace (owner of Coles County Dragstrip) purchased it for his highschool daughter. It was red, but they painted it grey. You might be able to score it for well under your 2K. I can probably get his number if you want to give him a call.

Thanks, I'll check that Formula out.

Coupes would be OK, but it has to be a manual.

Thanks!

Did you see this one on ebay? It's in Illinois, too.

You are right Foxxy, I didn't notice. My bad. That bid is still nice and low for an 88 Formula though.

They claim to have a T-top car with working headlamp motors, and I found another seller (not on eBay) with a hardtop with bad motors, using the same pic. The dealership stole the pic, and that's not the car they're selling.

Being an auto, I wasn't very interested, but with the wrong pic up, I'm certainly not making the drive on $4 gas to check it out.

I'd be open to 5sp '88 Coupes as well...

Not really looking for a GT, but I'm close to giving up altogether until next year. Info on the GT?

Paul, I've shipped vehicles to/from nearly all 50 states, and even overseas, so getting a Fiero shipped here from NM would have been no problem, other than the impact it would have had on the price.

I was looking specifically for an '88, but was willing to consider the vehicle you contacted me about, but given the attitude in your last PM, I'm not interested.

Seriously...Who contacts someone else to try and sell them a car, then states (and I quote)

"Since you have no e-mail listed, there is no way to send you a picture. Can you get the car from New Mexico ? If not, let's not even waste time with this."

1) Ask for an email and I'd gladly give you one, or three, to choose from, and...
B) Sure, I get you don't want to mess with it if it can't happen, who does?
...But seriously, you couldn't find a more magnanimous way to put it?!

Sheesh..

Guys, I'm sorry. I'm just not finding what I'm looking for at this time.
Rumor, you have been MOST helpful, and I will do anything I can to help you find a buyer for your car.
At this time, it's just not quite what I was looking for.

I think I'm going to try again in several months and see if the scenery has changed any.

Thanks for all who've tried to help me find a nice Formula, I've left many + ratings as a result.

~M

Completely. He was very nice, and the car was...Well...perfect.
But, after I drove down there and looked it over, he must have fallen in a well or something...
I've never gotten him on the phone since.

I dunno if he sold it, decided not to sell, or what, but any answer would have been preferable to dead silence.

I may try him again from time to time, just in case, but for now I'm gonna hold off otherwise.

It was just too nice a car at too great a price, and nothing else seems to stack up.

Thanks for asking!
