Denver, Colorado - Asking $1,500 Firm

After 12 years and 3 Fieros, it is time to move on. This car has been my daily driver for about half the time I've owned it. There were two blocks of time (college and carpooling with the wife because we worked together) that I only drove it once or twice a week. However, it is my daily driver again and has been since April 07.

I purchased my white 88GT in June of 2001. It had 123,456 miles on the odometer. It now has 144,219 on it.

The official "stats" are as follows.

1988 Pontiac Fiero GT (White)
2.8L V6 (144,219 orig. miles)
Automatic
Power windows and locks
Leather seats
Sunroof (plus I have the "moonroof" insert that fits inside the sunroof and matches the top interior of the car.)
Everything is stock - even the radio.
Everything is original with the following exceptions:
* Decklid doesn't match numbers with the rest of the car. This was a one-owner garage-kept car before I got it, so I think he wanted a wing and they swapped deck lids at the dealership. Not sure though.
* The word "Formula" is on each door, in the correct position as other 88 Formulas. However, the door's numbers match the GT VIN#, so I think this is a "mod" from the original owner (along with the pin stripes and the bumper stripe (see pics). My goal was to remove all of this and repaint, but never did.
* The car didn't come with a front license plate, and I got ticketed in downtown Denver, so I bought a front plate holder from the Fiero Store. It has been there ever since.
* The windows (including the quarter windows) are tinted.

The car is in generally decent shape - especially the exterior. Only a few blemishes outside, along with the driver's side quarter panel having two cracks, but is still intact.

The interior is more rough and will need help in the common problem areas. (Driver's seat, center console warping, etc.)

The car has a new alternator and 1 year old battery. Got a tune up in 07 so I could drive it every day again. The timing was just adjusted as well.

I will write up a list of problems if requested, but most or all of them are the result of the car being 21 years old. It has never been in an accident, and just passed emissions last summer.

This picture was taken today in my garage. The others are from the day I bought it in 01. The exterior is basically the same as before (today it snowed and I was out in it, so it isn't washed and detailed like in the other pictures.

The image below is a large size of the one above, in case you want details.

This images is larger than 153600 bytes. Click to view.

More pictures will be taken this week when the weather gets better.

The person who buys my Fiero will need to organize a way to pick it up.

If it's within the Denver area, I'm happy to come to you or meet somewhere.

The mileage will keep going up a little because I'll still be driving it everyday until I get it replaced with something else.

Questions, reply in the thread or send me a PM.

- Flamberge (Patrick)

Good looking car.
If I was closer I'd love to look at it and save myself a lot of work to get mine in presentable shape.
I'm with you- the sticker would have to come off the bottom. Not my cup of tea!
Good luck with the sell- and have a great Christmas.

It's a Colorado car.......no rust!

I've known Patrick and his car for a long time.....at least 6 years. This is a very nice stock (read: unmolested) '88 GT. It's not perfect, but it is a very nice base for someone to start with. I would have bought it myself, but I have way too much into the '88 coupe I bought 3 months ago and I can't afford a third car. I say that, but in all reality if I had a place to store it I would probably buy it and tinker with it a bit.

Here's a bump for ya Patrick.

Thanks Mike for vouching for me and (the others) for the bump! Can you believe it's been 6 years? Wow. The car doesn't have any rust. The main problems are things like the exhaust leak, I think one of the gaskets leaks oil (not a lot, I generally get about a quart low between oil changes at 3,000 miles, so it's a slow leak. I just bought an 2004 Tiburon GT (very nice) so I haven't driven the Fiero since Monday.

A few people have been asking for more pictures, so I sent the car through the car wash today and got my camera out. The only photo-manipulation is to mask the license plate. Also, a couple images needed their levels tweaked. If they did, I am including both versions so you can see what I did.

And finally, the reason I am selling it:

I like the way that you present your 88. Very detailed, and with excellent pics. It is not everyday that someone actually tries to sell what they have in such an honest manner. A+ for you. Now, someone grab up this great deal from this gentleman.

After 13 days of being for sale, I sold the car tonight. The guy I sold it to is a previous Fiero owner and a regular on the Mile High Forum. He is a good person and will take great care of the car, which is really what I wanted. He said he will also start posting at PFF. He knew about it, but was just a lurker.

Thank you to everyone who posted, vouched for me and my car, and the kind words I read in this thread and the Tiburon thread. It means a lot to me.

It's weird how emotional I got watching my sold car drive away tonight. It felt a lot like losing a family member. Like I said, Serra went to a good home, so no problem there. I just hope she is as good a car for him as she was for me. There's no doubt that I've never loved a car more.

Congratulations! You saved me a drive to Denver! Hope you enjoy the Tiburon. I used to have a 97. They weren't quite as nice back then, but still a blast.

Congrats Patrick. It is tough for me to let go of a car too. When I sold my black 19K mile '88 GT back in '04 I actually cried as the new owner drove away. That is probably the one sale I truly regret.

Anywho.....at least it is going to a good (and local!) home.

I might have uh... had something in my eyes as well when the car drove away.

I remember your black GT. It still stands as the single nicest Fiero I've ever seen in person.

Thanks Carver. The Tiburon is great so far. I liked the styling of the 97's too. I never drove one, one they looked great, especially in bright red.

Good stuff Flamberge. I want to say congradulations on your sale. Good luck to you, and all that you do. My whole family are salesman. Hence my appreciation for your honesty about your 88. I despise salesman. Hope that you are able to get another one oneday brother.

Thanks Tony. I figure honesty and reputation trumps profitability, especially in this situation.

But if anyone should be congratulated, it should be the buyer, who got what I would consider a 7 out of 10 quality running 88GT for $1500.
