1984-1987 ZERO Tolerance Rear Control Arm Bushings

Finally, after designing using various materials, I have settled on a bushing that will be worth the price. These bushings were designed to rotate freely by hand, and yet still have ZERO play. I also dont think these bushings will ride smoother than poly because all of the work is applied to the shock/spring combo. The way these are desinged to be tightened down to factory spec and still move freely. They are shown with UHMW outers, but will actaully be aluminum.

They will never bind or squeek, and dont require any maintenance over their lifetime.

The bearings are fully sealed, and they are reinforced on both sides by a stainless steel washer to keep them from foreign debris damage to the outer sides. The bearings are a press fit onto a aluminum inner sleeve, which the stock mounting bolt goes through, and then the stainless washer is pressed to cover the bearing.

My UHMW/aluminum bushings are still a good enough design, and will still be offered as a worth while improvement over poly. These are a step beyond.

I will be making the sets for the front end of the car in the near future.

These will be offered for $145.oo with my same as always FREE priority shipping. These will not be made ahead of time.

I'm not a machinist or metallurgist but I would tend to think that ball bearing bushings would become brinneled easily. Wouldn't roller/needle bearings be more appropriate?

I'm just asking a question to understand things better and not trying to criticize the product.

The bearings have a load rating of around 450lbs each, and a dynamic load of around 800. Each bushing uses two, and each control arm will have four. So each side of the car is good for 1800 lbs, static load, and 3200 lbs dynamic.

You, however made me do a lot more research asking about the needle bearings. I really like the idea! They have way more surface area, and therefore can sustain more load. I think I may be able to use fewer bearings per bushing, and therefore offer a cheaper part.

Removed because I realized this is in the mall, not tech.

I have gotten feedback a few post up, and have changed the bearings to needle bearings. Sorry if I forgot to post it.

I also agree it is an excellent idea.

However, aren't busings meant to absorbe 80% of the shock energy.. seems like the suspension would be almost..loose..
