Due to the limited space in the Fiero getting a decent sounding bass is kinda hard to come by so with this in mind a new design will be available soon to enhance the bass response. This is an enclosure that holds an 8" subwoofer with a single 4 ohm voice coil using a bridgeable amplifier and sounds real good during R&D while providing a nice round bass note.
This enclosure will not provide that trunk rattling glass shattering bass so if that is what you are looking for this is not for you but is at least 100% better than the stock sub that came with some Fieros.
The design has been around for awhile and was modified to fit under the dash of the Fiero and out of prying eyes and will not take up the footwell or behind the seats and yet light weight to mount,it is made from form tube and mdf encased in fiber glass layers inside and out and covered in a gray speaker carpet and connection is made to a quick disconnect terminal cup at the back and It will come with sound filler to line the inside of the enclosure also the added feature of a side mounted bass reflex vent..
I am gauging the response to see if there is enough interest in them to produce on a larger and timely basis yet keeping the cost reasonable and within reach of under $100 each, in addition to this enclosure there will be 3 new designs for screw on speaker door pods available to mount speakers on the doors here are the configurations.
6.5" speakers with 2" tweeters. 6.5" speakers with midrange or full range ( sunken mount) 6X9" shallow mount speaker. They will be available in gray , black and beige carpeting to closely match the interiors.
Depending on interest these could go into production by mid november and pricing is yet to be determined and thanks for your time and suggestions.

Man you know I'm in line for a bazooka. I've been messaging you for like 2 months regaurding the door pods and this, and I'm pretty excited to see this post! I want first in line for a bazooka, still not sure how I'm gonna do the door speakers, I might just go ahead with the firebird door panels, but we'll see. But first in LINE for the bazooka man. Even if you don't go large scale, I want one of these as soon as humanly possible!
Coming home from iraq, I think a good sub is deserving! =D

I think pics are in order for these, from the sounds of it you've got at least one sub done, how about the pods? People will definitely get behind this more with pics! =D
Interested in the door pods, i have a comp cvr 8 kicker mounted under the dash which hits like a freight train, but i would still be interested in a sub enclosure as well.

What will be the price of the Sub enclosure? it it's reasonable I could be serious about it. Reasonable as in less than $175
if thats reasonable to you, can we trade paychecks for a week? another guy was selling them on here for 85 shipped, wth the replacement cover and brackets for your heater core.
175 would be wayy out of line.

Here is some more info on the sub enclosure and door pods and enclosure, as I mentioned in the top of the post we are trying to keep the prices as reasonable as possible so it is within reach and affordable to every one and not because some one was selling theirs for a certain price we are going to be the same this a different enclosure. The cost of the materials (fiberglass, carpet, contact cement, mdf board, etc) plays a major part in the final price that is why shipping is not included but it should be somewhere close or about to the original specified price.
Shipping ($15) is not included in the price of the enclosure or the pods so far Fedex gave the best rate unless you are in a rush to receive it ,the pictures will be posted very soon when the first set is completed but now they are in the construction stage nothing spectacular.Fitment is not a problem with either the Fiero or swapped Firebird dash like wise the door pods which is screwed on from the read of the panel.
This pod ( The Component) is for a different car and will be much more shallow this is suited for a more rounded sound stage using multi amps but there will also be a smaller and different design for a 6.5 and flush mount tweeter pics not available at this time will allow you to experience a different sound from the standard full range by using coaxial or triaxial speakers , I can supply loaded or just the bare pods depending on what is preferred so thanks for all the input and suggestions.

This is from the bottom of the dash but no one can tell you have a sub because it is not seen when th dash is mounted.
Dash in place with sub mounted.
Top looking down with sub in place
With optional grill.
With test speaker.
These are just pics of the test fitting and not the final product which will be fiberglassed in and out ant then carpeted, the mount will come attached to the sub and will need just some seklf tapping screwas to hold it in place.

The sooner these things start actually selling, and people post pictures of their product, the more people will start publiclly wanting them. Look at the other guy, like 10 people got on that list, and more, and he just vanished. People are probably reluctant to get their hopes up.. again.

As long as you don't have to pull the entire dash out to install it, put me down for 1 (for me!) sub enclosure...just happen to have a pair of Fostgate 8" subs in my garage....go figure. I'll check with my son and see if that 1 will become a "2"... As for the pods, how deep of a speaker can go into the 6.5's hole without cutting into the door? TIA.

The entire dash will not have to be pulled to install this enclosure but it makes it easier to mount it firmly since it is mounted from the bottom to the support under the dash speaker like in the picture.
There is the mount for the blue sound module which has to be removed and tucked aside then the sub slides up under the dash,if you fabricate your own mount then pulling the dash is not necessary but my design it mounts from the bottom.

In answer to your question this is an 8" enclosure and a 10" will not fit because of the limited space under the dash, the difference with this system and previous one's available this has a bass reflex port firing into the car unlike the sealed box previously available resulting in a more rounded bass response.
The enclose is designed to handle any average 8" sub woofer preferably a single voice coil with a shallow magnet structure, the first 5 speaker enclosures will be carpeted in black carpet and there after in gray. Here are the pics as promised and these are gray but because of the camera flash they appead gray.
as for the speaker pod here is a prototype of the 6.5" door pod with 2" tweeter...in ths pic the tweeter hole is covered the carpet until it is ready for use.

Thanks for your quick response. Also thanks for taking the time to answer questions.
So even when taking everything removable out. (blue dingy thing) 10" (even shallow mount) are out of the question then?
Is the blue dingy thing to be relocated in your setup as well? Could you go a little bit into the bass reflex port and "rounded" response? How did you calculate the length of the reflex tube? - Does that mean the tube is "tuned" ?
Why wouldn't dual voice coils work? Not enough clearance?
Would a dash speaker still fit with this setup? Fierosound's 5.25 component kit?
ported boxes increase bass response by moving more air behind the speaker. Basically it widens the frequency range that the speaker can reproduce within reason. A dual voice coil has a larger magnet and a deeper basket, although it will work if you go with a shallow mount dvc speaker. The kicker comp cvr8 is a dual voice coil and it hits hard for an eight. I have on in wikkid ones sub enclosure and should work fine in this one. Iti is easier to select the speaker type when you know the enclosures cubic space.

Could you post pictures of your setup? (in wikid one's thread, don't want to hijack this one. (more than I did already anyways. Sorry. )
That's what I meant earlier by "tuned".
Do we know the cubic space volume of any of these enclosures? It could be done by either pouring in a measured amount of "shipping fluff" (packing peanuts or the like), or pouring in a measured amount of liquid during the development phase. (when it's sealed, but not carpeted yet.)

I have the software to make any box you can think of ,it calculates every thing so it is very accurate instead of using the method you suggested.

Cool.
It would probably get the "port" length right as well. I can't even begin to imagine doing the math by hand with such an odd shape subwoofer enclosure. (not just cylindrical, but with odd shapes to maximize room. i.e.: wikid one's box) From what I could find researching this, odd shapes (like most of these Fiero designs) are actually preferable than standard boxes as they limit standing waves. (whatever that means. )

The first ten enclosures were built I am going to discontinued making them since the response is not good, there are 5 remaining tubes that will be going on ebay later in the week. At least we tried to put some beat in the Fiero.

You might get a higher response rate with a thread in Technical, or General Fiero chat.
Most people (I think) don't check the mall thread.
With this economy it might also be a question of timing. Don't give up...
