I purchased one of these on Wednesday. All the numbers matched up to tell me that this was the 2.2 to 1.0 6th gear ratio (the good one for highway crusing). From the charts it is calcualted at 1925 RPM at 65 MPH. Amazingly the transmission arrived on THURSDAY! (28 hours from payment). It was packaged very well and was exactly as advertised. Before posting I wanted to check the gear ratio so I would not lead any one astray (and just in case I made a mistake with my purchase). The 6th gear ratio comes out to almost exactly 2.2 to 1.0.
So to answer the question: Is this the 2006 G6 transmission with the good ratio? The answer is YES.
As for the trasmission ratio, I put a socket on the end of the spline shaft and duck taped it together. I was very carful not to hurt the spline or shaft surface. Then I turned the trans on its side so I could see the spline for the axle. I marked one of the teeth with a Sharpie. Just one tooth. Then I marked a position on the seal. I put the trans in a gear and turned the input spline shaft 10 turns (the more the better) with my ratchet and then counted the number of revolutions of the output shaft. The ratio I came up with are within 2 or 3 hundreths of the listed gear ratios. I figure that's the gear box I must have.
Pretty simple, but it took about 30 minutes.
It's a way to know for sure.

^ Neat trick The trans cases are also different from the 06' and 07' models. The 07' bell housing has round edges.
Clayton.... Do you have a good picture of just the transmission for the 07? I (or you) can take a picture of one of our transmissions from the same angle so we can show people the difference. Then everyone will know what the difference in appearance is.
Just a thought....

The differences are suttle. I don't think anyone has put an 07'-08' F40 in a Fiero yet. Their RPO codes are different and the newer models are still in the $1500-$2000 price range. IIRC the MU9 has a slightly different bellhousing bolt pattern also.
