Hi, this is my first post on here after spending a couple of weeks searching for a great resource like this.
Here's my situation - I really want a Fiero and have been searching all the usual sites (craigslist, ebay etc) but the one's I've seen are either too expensive, too crappy or gone already. Saw a great one at the weekend advertised on craigslist but when I called it had been sold already. Unfortunately the guy who bought it only wanted to make a quick buck and has re-advertised it for $750 more than he paid for it! I think he knows that I know that and won't return my calls or emails
Anyway, I am not mechanically minded (yet). I'm looking for one that runs but not too concerned about paint etc as I would use this as a started project to play with at weekends and can do some cosmetic work myself.
I can't really spend more than about $1500-$1800 for one and I do have a bunch of AA miles so can travel to pick one up as long as it's a decent runner and be able to drive it home to Texas.
Would love to here opinions about what I should get, what I should avoid etc. Ideally I would like a manual transmission but that is not a deal breaker.
I've actually admired Fiero's for many years from afar and now I live in the US it is certainly more do-able to have one.
There are lots of fieros up there in the dallas/fw area. just wait, they will be on this thread so fast offering you a car.... if not, check with: Mustangbeware fierocarparts they always seem to be buying and selling fieros! Oh and get with the NTFC local Fiero club up there. watch out for the prez. he is a prude(so he says )

Paul, There is one down near Hillsboro for $750. Needs motor. I have a complete low mileage 2.5L for $150. That would put you into one for under a grand. Also a GT near Alvarado for around $750. Not sure on details of it. I have a NICE Yellow Formula but it is more than your range. Good luck with your search.

what year is that one?
i know where there's an '87 coupe in Alvarado but it's in bad shape. found it when Blake, James, and myself were on a scouting trip for Spring Fling V.
Steve (fierocarparts) in Fort Worth showed me a great yellow Formula which I really wanted, but I had to let my head rule my heart as I wouldn't have been able to teach my daughters to drive a stick in that one ... but it would have been fun for me , so I guess I have to add to my list of requirements that it can't be as much fun as that one was in terms of driveability for teenage girls!
By the way, Steve showed such patience with my "novice" questions and was a pleasure to meet, I'm just sorry his yellow Formula didn't work out for me.
If you PM me please use the email link as I didn't realize that PM's don't generate an email notification and I found 5 in my inbox a few days ago. To those of you who sent them - thanks, and I was not ignoring you!!

If my 88 was closer to being finished I'd offer my 87 GT auto at a great deal.... but the 88 is still in pieces. And the 87 is soon to be getting ready to drive to Minnesota later this year. The longer I've owned mine the "Newer" it gets it just keeps shedding the OLD parts.
