I am reluctantly putting my 88 GT 5-speed up for sale. It is one of only 241 yellow GT's ever built. If there is such a thing as a "rare" Fiero, this car would be one of them. I want it to go to a good home. Hopefully, someone that will appreciate that it is the lowest production color Fiero produced, and keep it close to original. This car has every factory option, except leather and lumbar.
I want to give a big thanks to "katatak" for posting these pictures for me. He also has first "dibs" on this car if he decides to pull the trigger. My car is a daily driver, but I keep it as nice as I can. My Fiero is not perfect but would be an easy car to make too nice to drive. I have owned it for a long time and it has always been a great car.
I forgot to mention. For all you rust belt guys, this car was purchased new in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It has been in the dry desert southwest all the time I have owned it. Since cars don't rust here we tend to take that for granted.
The paint you are looking at is factory original except for a poor partial respray of the front bumper cover by the original owner.
The front tires have lots of tread and the rears are at about 50%. I drive this car to work daily. I am averaging 26 to 28 mpg combined city and highway. What you cannot see is that I have installed zinc plated, drilled and slotted rotors. The calipers are painted red and have Rodneys "Fiero" decals in white, applied to them.
The passenger side quarter window is an aftermarket tinted one. The drivers side is the original. It has the typical stress cracks from age. I will include the new tinted quarter window for that side. I have and will install the original stock lug nuts with black caps and factory locks. I just like the look of the chrome ones.
The rear exhaust tips are polished stainless with rolled edges. I like them because you can see them from a distance behind the car. The wing is finally starting to have the clear go away on top. Other than that it is undamaged. Hi Pat's Formula
It is hard to see in this picture but the tops of both front fenders have faded slightly. The clear is fine but the color is slightly different. I have seen this happen on another yellow 88 GT. It must have something to do with the original paint process.
In this picture you can see the car has tilt (which is tight) cruise, rear defrost, and delay wipers. The radio is the stock am/fm/cassette with EQ. Not shown is the factory Performance Sound Subwoofer. The steering wheel is original and could use a rebuild. There is a business that restores these steering wheels and sells them on ebay. The black cable you see hanging down on the floormat is a power supply for a radar detector. I usually tuck it behind the dash when I am not using it. Notice the floormat on top of the factory one to minimize wear on the original.
The windows are tinted. The car will need new dew strips and the drivers window has scratches. The Fiero door tabs are accent painted with "Fiero" in white, and the "Pegasus" in yellow. I can reinstall the stock black ones if the buyer wants. Power windows are typical Fiero (slow) The convex mirror comes in handy with this car.
This is the mileage as we took pictures at Pat's home. I drive this car daily so the mileage will change. I think my car is mad at me for offering it up for sale. The temp needle decided it wanted to fall off! I will look for the link that shows how to put it back. A/C blows cold. You need it here in Texas. The climate controls work perfectly.
This is the drivers seat. It is the original material and in very good condition with no tears. I usually keep seat covers on them.
The dash is in excellent condition with no cracks. It is always covered with a dash mat. I forgot to mention the lower dash corners on both sides are in perfect condition. These tend to get cracked and broken. All the dash vents are undamaged also.
The console, console door, and shifter surround, have very little heat warpage and are not cracked. The original leather shift knob is in very good condition. The original carpets are in excellent condition. The original floor mats, while not perfect are in good shape for their age. I keep another mat on top of the drivers mat.
Passenger seat is also undamaged and usually covered.
Passenger side door panel, and undamaged lower dash corner.
Front speakers have been replaced, rear speakers are due for replacement but fine at all but high volume. Factory sub works fine. Tissues not included
Just to show that all body panels are original to the car. In the last picture you can see how the sun has started to fade the tops of the front fenders.
Here is the engine. It runs like it looks. I know the "Fiero" on the intake should be red, but I painted it black. I think it stands out more this way. The car has had the recall, but I reinstalled the weatherstrip on the back of the deck lid to keep trash out of the compartment. The "Holley" is accent painted red on the throttle body. I also painted the factory air bridge red. It used to match the engine, but has faded over time. The paint on the engine is original. The trunk carpeting is also in very nice condition.
Front compartment showing air deflector for sunroof. The sunroof also has the factory sun shade. No leaks or wind noise.
The headlight motors work fine. You can see where the clear coat is starting to go away on the top of the rear spoiler. I wonder if Pontiac will warranty it? You can also see the paint work on the drivers side of the front bumper cover. The previous owner was older and bumped into his wife's car. She was not pleased.......
Here are the rear taillights. No delamination or cracks. The "Pontiac" lights up fine. All the bulbs for it are one step brighter than stock. I found a thread on this mod years ago.
I have researched different pricing sources, including the Paul Vargyas Fiero Price guide. Based on the mileage, equipment, and color, fair market value for my car is $5,500.00. I was offered much more than that a few years ago by a wealthy man from Mexico. He wanted to buy it for his young son. I passed on his offer because I did not want this car to be abused and end up in a junk yard.
This car is for sale only, no trades. (Wifey will not let me bring any more cars home) I will consider reasonable offers. I will not sell this car to someone who wants to chop it, or install Lamborghini doors. No disrespect, but this car deserves to be kept close to stock. I have no problem with bolt on mods, and have done some myself. Please PM me with any questions. I will respond as quickly as possible, but I work a lot of hours so bear with me. If you want a nice Fiero to begin with, this is it.

I have had cars transported in the past. You are probably looking around $600.00 to $700.00 on an open carrier. Zigaroo, I could use your graphics knowledge for a project. I will PM you.

Thanks for all the PM's. Feel free to ask any questions you have. I will be responding to the offers so far. I am stuck at work so I will call or email this evening, if it is not too late, or tomorrow. For shipping quotes, there are a number of online auto transport cost compairson sites. I have shipped three cars cross country, using different services, an all have been delivered to me in excellent condition.
This Fiero is a great driver and turns heads when ever I take it out. If you are on the fence, looking for a nice driving Fiero, this is a car you should consider.

You know you want this car - pull the trigger and take it home. Might I suggest a "Fly and Drive" option. Fly into El Paso - most large hubs have direct flights - if you shop around you may find a great one way ticket for under 200.00 from say KC, Denver, SLC, Houston, etc. South West usually has the cheapest in and out of El Paso. Sometimes you can get a Round Trip ticket for less than the one way. You could pick up your new Yellow 88 GT, the local Fiero guys would take you on a little tour - stop for a meal and escort you out of town on your way home? Sounds like a great way to get that dream Fiero GT you have always wanted.

I appreciate the people who want to do a partial trade, and the cars are nice, but my significant other would send me packing if I brought another car home. The local Fiero guys can verify I have a fleet already. I am looking at offers, and I might consider delivering the car myself depending on distance. I can also assist on arranging shipping, as I have done this mutiple times myself.
Just to answer a few questions: the engine idles at 900 rpm. it starts almost immediately and runs platinum plugs, it easily passes Texas emissions testing, the trans shifts smoothly and only gets GM synchromesh fluid, drivers side visor has been replaced and does not droop, passenger side droops a little, headliner is original and has some loose spots but is not falling down and looks good. the e-brake needs to be adjusted, but is not rusted, brake pads are kevlar material, the defroster works but I have only used it a few times, power locks work with the key on, but not with the key off. (Any ideas on how to fix this?) It is equipped with an alarm, but the unit has failed. Maybe this is the cause of the lock problem, excellent alignment, struts and shocks are low pressure gas. The front coils have one coil removed so the car is not "nose up" like stock 88's.
Please PM me with any additional questions/ offers. I will return you PM's when I get a break from work, or late evenings.

PM's answered. Thanks for the interest. While I do not consider my car the "Holy Grail of Fiero's" (Thanks anyway!) it is uncommon as far a Fiero's go. If you want other opinions on my car, I am sure Katatak (Pat) or Frizlefrak (Dan) would be glad to give you their assessment of my Fiero. Just drop them a PM.

What a nice looking 88GT! I am not in the market for another, but if I were, I would be all over this one... It is getting harder and harder to find a nice un-molested Fiero. Your asking price seems fair to me. If your not in any rush to sell it, I would hold out for your asking price of $5500. Maybe fix some of the lil quirks to make it that much more appealing. A bit of your time and maybe a few bucks could get you your asking price allot quicker?
Seems alloy of ppl don't do the math when they buy a Fiero. They think a $2-2500 price is the going rate. But once they start to repair ALL the little problems (some not so little), they would have been better off buying one like this to start with. Guess being nickle and dimed to deth doesn't hurt the wallet as much; or so it seems
Good luck! AL
BTW, the yellow GT is what made me fall in love w/ the fiero. I remember as a kit, back in the 80's, my father bringing home a Pontiac broshure (he was shopping for a car I guess). I thumbed through it and loved the (if I remember correctly) full page add picturing the yellow GT

Thank you for the compliment Al. I have tried to take good care of this car over the years. I consider myself lucky to have been able to own and drive a car that so few of were actually produced.
I actually have had quite a few PM's for additional information on the car, and I am considering offers. I agree with you about purchasing the best car you can afford. It makes it much easier, and less expensive overall, to restore, or upgrade a nice car to begin with. I have done it both ways and learned from my mistakes. I have seen plenty of low priced Fiero's but unless you have a Fiero parts warehouse, you will end up spending quite a bit to bring them back close to factory condition. I have nothing against modifying a Fiero, but this car is to close too original to modify, on top of being lowest production color produced . It is also harder to get a good return on investment with a car you have spend lots of money on personalizing it to you tastes. I have purchased and sold a number of special interest cars and the most original seemed to always sell for more. I still like a cool home built hot rod though......

Wow my favorite color! My first car that I purchased was a yellow 69 Z/28. Wished I had the $$ but I just found employment. My 88 coupe came from the Ft Worth/Dallas area. The red paint on the body panel tops are faded but the bottom of the car was in great condition even after being in the Pittsburg area for some time.
For us in the rust belt, Texas cars are great to purchase!

solotwo, yellow must be one of my favorite colors also. I have had three yellow cars. The first a 75 Monza 2+2 V8 4-speed, (the good looking one with the urethane front and rear bumper caps) in Daytona yellow. Then my 88 GT you see here in Talbot yellow, and one of my most recent projects, a Butternut yelllow 68 el camino. I'd love to have a 69 Z/28 in yellow. The new Camaro looks good in yellow too, and would most likely cost less than a first rate 69 Z/28.

I hope it comes to Illinois and gets some pampering!!!! Lol
It will be closer to you than it is to me. Congratulations to the new owner! "Mellow Yellow" will be going to a great home. I will let the next owner decide if he wants anyone to know where he is.

The car is coming to Alabama. So far I've owned 3 85GT autos, and 85SE 4 speed, and an 86SE auto. This will be my first fastback and a 5 speed to boot.
This one will look good next to the white 85GT. Bookends for the GT model (first and last).
