Sold. Will soon live in a white fire breathing Fiero in Durham, NC.
Hey guys.
I have up for grabs an completed, running, 3800 swap. The engine runs like a scalded dog, and everything works great. I simply have too many projects at this point, and am cutting back. This engine was in an '88 GT for about a year, and then was put into an '86 GT. To put it into the '86GT, I built an adapter plate for the the front mount. This means that it will bolt into either an '88 cradle or the pre 88 cradle, all that needs to be done is unbolt the adapter plate.
So what's included? - 1997 Bonneville 3.8 SSEI Engine (Purchased with 27,000 miles - I guesstimate it now has about 35,000. Bonneville was a rear impact car) - 2000 Grand Prix Throttle Body - Getrag 282 5 Speed + Slave Cylinder - Camaro Flywheel; Machined to .840" - Spec Stage III Clutch - Spintech 333 Split Case w/ 3 inch mandrel bends in, 2.5 mandrels out - 1989 Turbo 3.8 Trans Am Fuel Pump - Tuned 3247 Computer + Moats G4 Adapter + 27SF512 Prom - Completely Plug and Play Wiring Harness - GM Aluminum Intake Gaskets #89017825 (Very important, also very expensive) - New Supercharger Gasket + "Yellow" Coolant O-Rings - EGR Delete - Autolite 104 Sparkplugs - MSD 8mm Plug Wires - WCF Front Poly Urethane Mount - Trunk Wall Mounted Coils - Stainless Steel Quick Disconnect Lines - Brand New CS144 Alternator (Low Mount) - Conical Air Filter - All Coolant Hoses
Buy this, take it home, bolt it in, drive it. Here are some pictures:
This is what a 30,000 mile engine looks like. Very, very, clean. This was taken when I installed the important aluminum gaskets. I only run green antifreeze in all of my vehicles, so no worries about dexcool.
This is why these gaskets are so important:
A receipt from when I bought the engine:
Video taken last November:
This really is a nice setup, and I'm going to hate to see it go. I'm asking $2600 cash, and local pickup. I'm located in Lewisville NC, right outside of Winston Salem.
Thanks for looking!

Ac, fuel, electrical coolant, and computer lines, my car is an 86 gt not sure how well the rear 88 cradle would work with the craptastic front brakes on the 86. I am definitely interested and have the cash on hand its just the drive to get it and back would be a haul, day at most do you have pics of the brackets that convert this to fit non 88 cars? The other thing is my car is a 4 speed muncie so i would have to convert the cables over.

Just for clarification, this setup does not come with the '88 cradle that was pictured above. That was just an example of compatibility with an '88 cradle.
I understand where you're coming from, and I'm not trying to talk you into something you're not comfortable with.
np the engine is basically set up to be dropped into any cradle, as in all the lines and such are in the right place and the harness and computer just need to be placed and set up. What motor mounts are used to attach it to the cradle did you use one of the available sets from members here or did you fab a set up? I could basically plunk this down on my cradle and bolt it in using my transmission.

I fabricated a setup. The front mount is a GTP U bracket, bolted to a West Coast Fiero Poly Front Mount, bolted to the adapter plate which sits on the '86 cradle perch. Pull the adapter plate out, and the WCF mount sits perfectly on the '88 engine perch. The adapter is built out of quarter inch steel. A very slight modification needs to be made to get the 4speed muncie to clear the exhaust crossover, but if that was done, you could just use your entire trans-axle and slip the engine into place - done.

Hmmmm Probably.. or realistically the only way I’ll ever get mine on the road is something like this, a drop in plug and play setup. For an 86/87GT 5spd, what would need to be done to what I have (car), to put that in and fire it up? I would imagine a fuel pump upgrade with new/matching fuel lines….what else?

Hey L67, I had a local guy e-mail me about parts and he seemed interested in your swap when I mentioned I knew someone with a 3800SC swap. I told him it came with everything he needed other than fluids/etc. Would you be willing to ship it? All you would need to do is put it on a pallet. PM me if you want his number.
