I have heard this could push out the wheel as much as three inches. Is this true?

Here's a pic in a fiero for you guy's that are wondering.
Can buy at any local oreilly's for 89$ I think it was (mine had it on the shelf)
Adapter kit was extra.

I'm going to assume that mine has the adaptor kit since it was installed on a car previously.

Yes, your steering wheel already has the adapter kit on it, it will actually need to be removed from the wheel to install the wheel on a car. How ever long that black metal (i think?) piece is, is the distance the steering wheel is going to be pushed out from the column.

you can buy a billet install kit that brings the wheel closer to the column. thats what i did.

More picture. The other ones were dirty from being in the garage. All I did was wipe it down with a wet paper towel...
