84 SE 2.5L 4-cylinder, rebuilt 4-speed manual trans 122,800 miles; 23,500 on the engine VIN: 1G2AF37ROEP288596
Bad: Brakes are grabbing – shop says needs new lines & fluid Has an occasional short buck or sputter No 4th gear sync Paint going bad Cruise control not functioning Some leakage around the sunroof
Good: A/C works great Headlight motors work Power windows, mirrors, door locks all work Tires have lots of miles left on them
Extra parts included: New NOS post-84 engine grates <--- SOLD The original 84 “solid” grate panels The manuals & paperwork that came with the car
The previous owner (before my son) had the engine rebuilt. For some reason, he thought the speedometer gauge was bad, and had the entire gauge pod replaced (at the same time the engine was out), but then found out the problem was somewhere else (?). Anyway, he gave us the original gauge pod, and it shows 99,300 miles. The engine now has 23,500 miles on it. So the rest of the car now has 122,800 miles on it (99,300 + 23,500).
I have the original 84 solid flat panels, if the next owner wants to convert back to an 84 decklid. The car has an Alpine CD/radio with removable faceplate, model # CDE-9843. The steering wheel is almost new, a dark tan GT 3-spoke from The Fiero Store.
The trunk release isn't hooked up. The cruise control stopped working last year, I don't know why. The 3rd-to-4th syncro is out, but that's really not a terrible thing, except it will grind a bit if you shift into 4th too quickly. There are some "minor" cracks in the dash, and a "normal" amount of console warpage, but your definition of minor and normal may be different than mine. The sunroof leaks a little, mostly when I use the sprayer at a car wash. When I wash it at home, it usually doesn't leak. When driving in a heavy rain, some water comes in, but it's not enough to keep me from driving in the rain. I once installed a new seal and sunroof hardware from The Fiero Store, but it made no difference.
The car has 87GT seats. It has a shortened shifter, which I love.
I didn't like the 84 luggage rack decklid, so I replaced it with a post-84 decklid from TXGOOD here on PFF who molded-in a rear scoop and an aftermarket wing. It's not a factory Fiero wing, but it's close enough to fool most people. Problem is, some of the molding he did is starting to come apart a little, next to the left rear wing stand. The next owner will probably want to replace the decklid, unless they are good with fiberglass.
It has a decklid strut from Rodney Dickman, for lifting the extra weight of the molded wing & scoop.
The paint job done by the previous owner is starting to show some wear in various places on the car. It's a 20-footer, meaning the car looks pretty good from 20 feet away, but any closer and you can easily see the paint problems.
The air conditioner works great, and it uses R-134. The headlight motors work.
When I moved it recently, the brakes were trying to grab, so it should only be driven a short distance, like no more than down my street. That's the worst problem it has right now, besides a strange "hiccup" once in a while. I had a shop give it a tune-up, and I replaced the fuel filter, so I'm stumped as to what's causing that hiccup. Maybe a vacuum leak? Before this began, it ran so strong that other Fiero people thought it had a V-6.
I don't want to part it out, because it’s too nice for that. Besides, I've done that before and it's more trouble than I want to get into again.
These pics were taken almost a year ago, but it's still the same. I admit the pictures make it look a little better than it appears in person.
And this one was at Daytona in March 2008:

I did some work on this car for Chuck before he moved out to FL. I can say that this was one smooth running car that looked good. If it was still in the Tx area I would think very hard about grabbing it....A little work and it would make someone a very n ice car...

for $500, I'd buy it right now no questions asked. there's an 88 engine and 84 4-speed drop out 15 minutes from my house for $150. if you were in IL, or WI it would be in my driveway already.
Best of luck with your sale. and nice video. just like me when I'm not driving my Fiero...or Beetle...lol

In reference to the leaking sunroof issue: does yours have the 4 1/4" holes drilled in each of the 4 corners of the sunroof? I believe there was a TSB about that. When I had my 84, it would leak until till I drilled the holes. I think they came thru factory drilled in later years. brian

I drilled the holes when I put in the replacement seal & hardware. Good question though, I forgot to mention that.

One of the guys who delivered our new entertainment center saw the For Sale sign and asked about it. I'm certain he hasn't had a Fiero before. Before he had to leave, I got the key and started it for him. He was very interested, but said he would talk to his wife about it. That was before Christmas. Later, he showed up to look at it some more. He said when he gets paid he will bring half of the payment, and then his next payday after that he would bring the rest and pick up the car (and he hasn't even driven it yet). So I gathered the manual, receipts and other paperwork, second set of keys & stuff. But he hasn't come back.
So it's still available, first come first served!

Here's the latest: A neighbor of the guy who didn't buy it came and looked at it, and we took it around the block a few times. He says he's going to buy it when his tax refund comes. We shall see. He says he wants to turbocharge that duke engine. I didn't try to tell him it won't be reliable, as he seemed to have his heart set on it.
So now I'm wondering if I will be Fiero-less by the time I reach 10,000 posts.

You were serious about that? j/k That's at least the 2nd one of those I've bought from TFS, maybe the 3rd... http://www.fierostore.com/P.../Detail.aspx?s=75004 Seems every Fiero I've gotten needed a new steering wheel.

Good question - I forgot to include that in the first post. VIN: 1G2AF37ROEP288596
quote
whats your rpms at 70 mph?
I don't recall, but it has the stock 84 4-speed manual transmission. I can take it out on the road behind my house in a day or two and find out. Been a long time since I got it up to that speed, since 70 mph is not needed to get across Tallahassee. By the time you get into 4th gear, you have reached your destination.
