Bump just in case Austin hasn't been on for a while.
How about just a little communication during the interim if you don't have time to ship the cables. Not trying to stir the pot at all, just wondering if/when I'll get my cables. I got your confirmation of payment several weeks ago, at which time you told me you were going to ship within the next couple days.......what happened?
Please get in touch with me when you get time. I've gone this route because nothing happened as a result of our P.M.'s
Anybody in central Indiana actually know Austin? I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt. I got one PM where he tells me he has worked everyday since Christmas.........ok.........when I worked at U.S.Steel, we worked 7 days a week, at least 2, 16hour days in that 7 day period, and that was when I rebuilt the engine in my MGB on top of a doghouse. Point being, you can get done what you want/need to if you decide you're going to. But now, I get no response from this thread, nor PM's. He says "They are on thier way." but does that mean they've been shipped?
Austin, if you're reading this, please get in touch with me and let me know what's up. If you've had something happen in your life that just prevents concluding this deal, TELL me, we'll work it out. I've asked here what shipper you used, so IF you did ship the package, maybe we can figure out what happened to it. If you haven't shipped it yet, why did you say that you did? Don't want to cause trouble, just want my cables, an explanation, or my money back.
WHAT"S UP DUDE?

I met Austin once and he seemed like a fairly decent kid. I thought he went off to the military? Maybe he is having a 3rd party ship it. That could be the issue you are dealing with.
John316, thanks for your input. I got the same impression from Austin. He's not been the greatest at communication since the start of this transaction, but there could many reasons for that. When he did respond, everything seemed ok, I'd just like to know what's up with this situation, is all. I'd appreciate any info anybody can offer, ideally, I will hear from Austin. Like I said above, in one PM, he said he was working allot, so I don't know if that means he is deployed, or if he's working at a job. Being left in the dark and hanging for $40 is the thing that's irritating. I'm a fairly patient guy, but with no explanation and no cables and no contact what-so-ever, what am I supposed to think?
Thanks again for chiming in, I do appreciate it.

Honestly, if you have not received the cables by now I would just go ahead and file a claim. No matter what method of shipping he used it should have arrived by now.

He paid with a money order...
A lot of crazy stuff can happen with shipping, though. I've been selling on eBay for a living for a while now and stuff happens ALL THE TIME with USPS now. I get things returned to me as undeliverable all the time, some never even get past local offices in tracking info. Some just get lost and seem to get sucked into some kind of secret USPS black hole. I've had many incidents like this with USPS, Fedex, and UPS, (Vast majority USPS), that time when I had to drive those seats 5 hours to you being a perfect example
On the other hand, I don't think it's unreasonable that you're upset if he won't communicate with you, I'd be getting a little suspicious about whether or not you will receive them at this point. Sorry Sage.
BTW, are you still making stuff? A few of my friends have seen what I traded the seats to you for, and have been impressed enough to ask where I got them, I told them to PM you, curious as to whether anyone did.
John........MDS said it: paid with a money order, nobody to file a claim with!
Also as MDS points out, many different things could be going on if the box did get shipped. I don't mind waiting for the cables if I know I'll get them, like I said, it's the no communication thing that's troublesome. Maybe Austin can't get on the forum very often, maybe his computer crashed, etc., etc., etc.. I expressed a concern with sending payment before I did because of the lack of timely responses from Austin, that is why I asked him to post in his original offer regarding the status of the cables, which he did, so everything is out in the open for all to see. Easy to deny PM's, but when it's posted here, it's a matter of public record. I have a hard time accepting that Austin is doing anything underhanded, but would rather believe that there's been some kind of mix up or miscommunication on his part, possibly through no fault of his own, but we shall see sooner or later. Maybe I'll go out front and poke around in the holley bushes........maybe the post man or UPS guy threw the box in there!
Yea David, we kinda went through this before, right? But you came thru in the end, and what an expensive game it turned out to be! Again, I commend you on your efforts to make things right, wish it had gone different, but it is what it is.
Yes, I still make stuff for Doug and Fierowarehouse, though it's been rough the last couple weeks. My building's not very big and not insulated at all, and I heat it with a woodstove. Wasn't able to do anything for the last several days, as the temps just made it next to impossible. Regardless of what some folks say, the weather does play a role in fiberglass production. That's why the "big boys" use a controlled enviornment. You have to observe the rules for temperature and humidity, or you just don't get the results you want. Yea, the guy laying the stuff up is in control of how well he gets everything pushed into where it belongs, but the weather sometimes, at least in part, determines how easy/hard that is going to be. I haven't heard from anybody that I know of concerning parts making, and even when I have, everything has to go through Doug and Fierowarehouse. The panels I made for you in exchange for the seats, I paid Doug for.
Hopefully Austin will get in touch with me and we will have a positive transaction sooner or later, like I said, I'm a fairly patient guy.

I hope it works out for you but I feel like I dodged a bullet. I was the third person to view these and almost pulled the trigger but decided to think about it for awhile. When I came back to the thread you had posted. I was a little disappointed at the time but not so much now . Good Luck
Thanks Terry. Just an FYI you can get all the cables AND a new adjuster shipped to your door from the Fiero Store for about $75, which is what I was planning on doing when I saw Austins' thread. I really hope he comes through with the goods, for his sake as well as mine. Hopefully, it will be cleared up to everybody's satisfaction before too much longer.
Am VERY happy to report the cables showed up today! I still do NOT understand the lack of communication, but it is what it is. I'm sure you have your reasons Austin, but it doesn't take THAT much effort to keep in touch, no more than it took to list the parts in the first place. The cables are as described, and I'm happy to have got them, as indicated, there was some doubt that I would, primarily due to the lack of communication. If you delagated shipping to someone else, then I'd suggest you not use them again, if you intended to ship them yourself, then you probably should have shipped them when you said you did. The post mark on the box is for the 25th, so that's 3 days from you to me, which is about what I would expect. That's also the reason I started to get a little concerned when you said "they are on thier way" on the 17th, 3 days should have had them here on the 20th, or close to it. Anyway, thanks for getting them to me, but I would suggest in the future if you're going to enter into a deal of this nature, you communicate a little better! Not telling you what to do, I know that doesn't work, (I've been married 38 years!), but I've had many transactions with folks here on PFF, most of them good, or at least ended that way. The ones that were the best, were the ones where people did what they said they were going to do, and when they said they were going to do it.
