Meziere Electric Water Pump (Standard) Used, Unknown miles. I bought a motor with some ZZP mods done shortly before i got it and this was one of them. It is in great condition, literally looks new.
Yup... But could only see using one if it were a 1/4 mile car... On a dd, the alternator would be under load more often to keep up w/ the the amp draw the elec. pump would be using. Thus not providing any significant hp gain; or better yet to a very good HP increase to $$ ration...
"The Meziere electric water pump will reduce operating temperature of your engine during idle, stop and go traffic, and general in city driving. Highway operating temps will be similar to stock. At the same time it will free up approx 7 engine HP at 6k rpm. Dyno gains compared to stock begin around 4k rpm and will increase as your RPM goes up. This means that gains will be increased on cars with raised rev limiters and shift points over the 7HP advertised. Perhaps the best feature of this kit for racing is track cool down. Run the pump with the car off and cool your engine down close to ambient within minutes!"
And who runs their engine at a continuous 6K to free up 7 hp. If I did that I would be doing about 120 with my auto and about 135 with my stick. How many horsepower do it free up with normal driving? Like at 2500-3000 range?

"Dyno gains compared to stock begin around 4k rpm and will increase as your RPM goes up." That indicates you could potentially lose a couple HP in the lower RPM because the alternator is working harder (at a point where it is also less efficient). But why would HP gains matter at such a low RPM? If you need more power at 2500 rpm, I would think a simple downshift would get you what you are looking for.

After working on an SBC swap that had an electric water pump, I was really amazed at how well this really works. It would see those same advantages in city driving.
Now for the other advantage that many overlook. If you break a belt on your car, you aren't stranded if you have an electric water pump. Just drive it to the auto parts store and get another belt. After working with one, I would get it if I had the spare cash.
