For sale, a complete 2.8 engine from a low mileage 1988 Formula. Everything included from the intake to the pan, minus the oil pressure sending unit and thermostat housing. This engine runs very good, recently serviced fuel injectors and tune up with new cap/rotor, plug wires and plugs. The engine has 78k miles on it, very clean, no oil leaks. Selling to make way for a 3800sc.
The engine is still in the car, should be out by next week. Please email me with any questions, kevinwcampbell@eaton.com
asking $550
Located in Vicksburg, MI (southwest lower MI)
Thank you Kevin Campbell

Not trying to knock your sell or anything but your expecting too much from that motor. You can find 3800sc motors for that price around the same mileage.
That's a fair price with all the accessories and brackets/mounts included. Wish I was within pickup range, I'd buy it. Fwiw, folks who post about the mythical $550 3800sc never post links where you can get one now that's not junk and/or stripped of blower, injectors, and accessories.
I actually have to agree with Jazzman's reponse. The price is not bad in all honesty, considering the mileage and everything that goes with it. You could use the thermostat housing off of an old L44 engine and a new oil pressure sending unit for the '88 models (it's a smaller one) runs for around $25. The OP will need the thermostat housing for his 3800SC swap.
If it were closer to me and I had a way to transport it I'd pay around that price range for a solid drop-in. Somebody will be getting a rather good deal. You're not going to find that many original L44 drop-outs that have 78K miles on them.

Ditto. Not everyone wants to spend a lot of extra money for a 3800 swap. The little 2.8 runs pretty well in a Fiero if it's in good condition. The last 2.8 dropout I sold for $600, but with trans (automatic), exhaust, & wiring harness, & it had over 100K on it. ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
Good luck selling it at any price. I had one on here a while back. I started asking $250, then $200, $150. Finally I offered it for free, just come get it. No takers. So I decided to part it out, and sold all the parts for $300 bucks. Still have the block and heads.
