I recently ordered a replacement manual shift knob for my 1986 SE. It originally did NOT come with Leather. When a friend of mine totaled his GT, I "borrowed" the shift knob from his car for mine.
Over a period of 3 years, the already worn leather finally gave up the ghost, separating from the knob, and finally coming apart at the seams. It was also quite "seasoned" from many years in the hot sun, with sweaty hands. Needless to say, it was not a very nice sensation to touch it after it started deteriorating.
I peeled the leather off, and have been driving the car ever since with a smooth shift knob.
Fast forward to last week when KEV, President of the Minnesota Fieros Forever club brought some "show and tell" items to the monthly club meeting. He brought in two of the Automatic shift handles to show everyone. The leather work on these was enough to make my mind up for me.
I purchased a "black, grained texture" shift knob.
A photo of the texture on the knob.
A detail photo of the stitch work (Top notch!)
A photo of the bottom "finished" edge.
Note: The leather is glued to the shift knob and curves under the edge where it meets the shift boot. The edge is not visible when installed. The adhesive is quite strong, and will last a long time. This may very well be the last shift knob you will need.
An installed photo in my car.
All in all, I give this product a 10/10. Shipping was fast (yes, considerably faster than my shipping...), the product was well packaged, and the price was unbeatable.

I love this shift knob. It looks great. I got the same one as Synthesis. The color of the leather, in my opinion, is close to the color of the dash. Excellent!
These are awesome! I've had mine in my 88 for a while now and have had no problems with it. I'll be getting one for my 87GT if I end up keeping the car. Whats the cost on an auto knob?
I need the Dark brown third to right from the blue one. If you have it I will Pay Pal you the money + $2.00
Have you thought about the steering wheels? I need one done for the DGP prototype as the top area is twisting and mushie. I think the leather could be saved. Thanks,,Rick B
does the price include shipping? is the Red with black stitching still available?

Pleasse let us know when you will be doing steering wheels. I am quite interested, having 2 GTs in need of good steering wheels. Both are 88, with gray interiors. I have been waiting for this. Thanks.
