I'm looking for some good sunroof tracks for my Indy. I'm tired of the leaky sunroof. Let me know what you have and what you want for it shipped to Portage, Mi 49024.
Doesn't the Fiero store sell new ones? I have a new set in my basement from them that I never have used yet, but I'm not sure If I will use them or not.

I've got a set I just salvaged but they look really terrible in the pictures. Actually they aren't bad at all, but they have a lot of old silicone and other sealants stuck to them. If they were stripped, sandblasted and powder coated I'm sure they would be fine. I am willing to send them to you on approval if you pay the shipping. Alternatively, I'm ready to take the tracks out of a crashed Indy I'm salvaging so you can wait for the ones in the Indy if you prefer. Here are some pics of the $25 set The last pic shows the worse spot where there is about a 1/4" piece of the upper edge of the track that is rusted away. I don't thin that missing portion would affect retention of the seal much.

I spoke with the Fiero Store before purchasing a used set from FieroG97J
They are looking at getting a new supplier for the sunroof tracks however it might take several months before that's done and they re-stock ... I simply couldn't afford to wait a few months to find out it would take another 6 months! Good luck and I hope you find some!

I second that...I spoke to them too. I'm in need of a new set. The previous set I bought from TFS rusted out fairly easily, that's why I want to replace them.
I have a feeling the old tracks where chinese junk. I don't think the old tracks were worth 65$ for something that rusted that fast. Or unless the paint coating was a low quality job. I guess I'll have to wait and see their new product tested.

I would be willing to make a set. Probably stainless. Do you have a junk set that I could get dimensions off of? I really don't feel like taking my car apart.

I don't unless I take my car apart. I wouldn't be able to do that because the car sits outside.
It wouild be interesting to see some of these made. They are not simple. The front track is curved in 2 of the 3 dimensions and the screw bosses are not perpendicular to the track. I have two sets extracted from parts cars. Between the 8 pieces, I ended up with 4 decent ones. They are still rusty, and missing some edges on the tracks at the very ends. Nonetheless, with stripping and repainting, they will be fine. By that I mean that they will retain the rubber seal as intended.
If anybody has a set laying around good or bad get a hold of me. I have lots of machines at my disposal and should be able to come up with something. I am not limited to what I make and am always looking for a project that can help others.
I'm pretty sure I may have a set for Rich to fabricate from , have to look in the barn tomorrow. Hold on to that thought, will post here tomorrow after I look.

I will be needing a set of sunroof tracks soon. Mine were all rusted when I took the car appart for the bodywork. If someone is able to make new ones, I would buy a set!
I am also in need of a set like yesterday. I thought they would be more readily available, seems not the case. Please PM me if your interested in selling. ASAP

They get sent tomorrow.. I had a lot of trouble finding a suitable box to ship them in but I got them packed and ready, and I go to the post office before work tomorrow.
Rich, you should have them by Friday.

My daughter's boy friend just brought over a hopeless set. They were too damaged to get the proper dimensions, but I am going to up the odds to 99.5% sure I can make these. And since he is installing a sunroof in his '84, I have a test subject now!!! I am going to use either a Finn Power punch press or either a Bystronic laser or Han Kwang laser to cut; Salvagnini panel bender to form the channels; and a Roundo machine to roll the windshield side.
I would recommend making one change. The indentions in the roof panel that receive the stamped depression in the track where the threaded bushing attaches need to be changed or omitted. They simply draw water to the threaded bushing for no reason that I can see. some sort of spacer as an extra piece part would work to eliminate the depression.

Have the tracks. Your change will happen. Instead of the t-nuts I am going put studs on. I have very good dimensions and will have the drawings finalized tomorrow night. Hopefully I can get some prototyping done next week. The new ones will be flat all around, and have studs in the required locations and precut holes. Does anyone know what screws are used for the holes? Are they sheet metal screws? Do they screw from the inside of the channels down or do they come up from the headliner? And should a new thread on these be started?
