I'm so frustrated and angry right now I'm probably not thinking straight but with Christmas right around the corner I really do not want to sink anymore money on this car https://www.fiero.nl/forum/F...126325.html#lastpost
Did you contact John Miller? That would be my first step as he did the swap. Not placing blame or anything like that, just saying he's a great guy and i'd ask him for help. At least call him and see what he thinks. Was it one of his crate motors? If so it may have a warranty, or you may have one with him. ??

Yes, I have and he replied right away and is very concerned. Jon IS a great guy and I place no blame on him. The install was perfect. There's something internally wrong with this engine and it's impossible for him or anyone to predict this happening. I live in MA and he's in NJ so there's no way I can bring it to him. I will ask if there's any recourse with AC Delco. I'm just not up to having to spend anymore money on this car. I'm thinking now I'm just going to take it off the road and cover it till....who knows.

That's exactly what you need to do; delete the CL ad, make sure it's winterized, put a cover on it and walk away from it for right now. I know how frustrating an older car can be and sometimes you just need to take a step back and let it sit for a bit. Then maybe after the holidays or in a couple months when the days start getting longer and it starts warming up, pull the cover off and see what's wrong with it. Hopefully it's just a push rod and that should be a relatively easy and inexpensive fix. Don’t give up on it, it’s a nice car and you’d regret selling it before it left your sight.

You and ALJR are the best I'm thinking this is what I'll do. Take a step back. Then if I still want to get it off my hands in the spring at least I had plenty of time to think it over. Marc

I've been there myself, even posted my own "want it all gone NOW!" thread when I found my newly acquired 87GT had terminal frame cancer. Bad way to learn that Fieros do indeed rust! Almost had another one recently with the Formulas panel off paint job that I'm doing. Painted the roof and rear clip (on the car still) and a bunch of the panels and for whatever reason the roof, rear clip and decklid have major orange peel while the rest looks like glass…not sure why…my wife said it was barely noticeable and to leave it. But to me it looked terrible and I've been working on it for so long now I just wanted to give up and get rid of it. If it wasn’t in a hundred pieces I probably would have sold it but instead I walked away from it for a while, several months actually…and then…. started sanding ….again. I didn’t think my first paint job would be show quality but also wasn’t planning on sanding off a couple hundred worth of paint and clear. Sometimes these cars are a blast to tinker on…other times ..not so much. got to take the good with the bad i guess.... sure can't wait for the good. LOL

I'm glad you decided to pull the ad. I've been having my own issues lately with my 88 GT. I had to be given the same advice. You made the right decision.

What makes the decision so tough is the time of year. Money is tight and when you have children that have a certain level of Christmas expectations you don't want to let them down because of a damn car! Plus a loving wife I like to suprise. Reality strikes and it makes priorities start changing. The fact that winter is coming too would make me not miss it so much....until the warm weather starts coming back! I hope you get your issues straightened out and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

I hear ya, but all the more reason to cover her up and regroup next year. After all, its not gonna cost you anything (aside from insurance; unless you take it off the road) to park it for a month or two...
Just think, if you get her running good again this summer; you can sell it in the fall for ALLOT more and make next Christmas one to remember
