Power Assisted Steering? Nice car. Way too far for viable shipping costs! reholmes- thanks for posting the link.

uhhhhhhhh......and I quote "From there the car was drop shipped to corporate concepts in Miami" I did not know it snows in Miami.....cuz it sure as heck is snowing here in MI. sooo fully of false....and I just glanced thru the ad seeing as its an '88 and all *edit* https://plus.google.com/pho...08041597072187750953uugh......the front and back areas are horrible......yuck rusty and dirty. double yuck! after a look over of the pics. I like the trunk cut line added to mock the real separation point of the 308 engine lid. looks good on the yellow. wonder how it looks on red?? heres something tho....."This Rodney Dickman verified Pontiac Mera started life as a 1988 fiero gt," If I remember like, only 6-1988 GT's got converted right?? was that the American cut only.....or were those 6 split between the US, Japan and/or Europe?? I had another question come to mind after seeing a CJB "T-Top Registry" thread in General Chat.... do we know if any legit CJB Mera installs. T-Top fieros are low but CJB T-Top Mera have to be real low, yes??

Dan, I have one of the very few 88 GT platforms used for the Mera and I believe that another one is with a PFF member in Texas. That leaves only four more to identify. WRT the CJB T-Top on an 88 Mera, I have a set of CJBs on my 88 GT platform Mera. However, I should clarify that they were transferred from another 88 GT to my car several years ago. I do have an 87 Mera with the dealer installed (I assume) t-tops and the C&C sticker. Do either of these vehicles count as a T-Top Mera? Nelson

This guy really evokes Rex to me! I imagine the serious rust on the Vitalonis may give some pause to a future owner. Like Nelson's 1987, Rex has the C&C (dealer installed?) option with my sticker showing service contacts in S. Cal of course. How I wish we could learn the delivered price after the sale is completed. Here's hoping it goes to an appreciative soul.

At that price and looking at the rust and potential paint issues, there may not be a sale. The interior is also somewhat bedraggled in my opinion and I have some questions wrt a vehicle that has been stored for a number of years. BTW, the vehicle does not have power steering based on my correspondence with the seller. Nelson [This message has been edited by hnthomps (edited 11-14-2014).]

The yellow Mera (in F308 disguise) is actually in Finland. The current owner sent me an e-mail asking what this car would go for in the US. I do see that the power steering info appears to have been removed from the ad.

If you want you can go ahead and post a card photo for me. I have not taken any pictures and would need to do that plus resize prior to posting an image. Nelson

OK, this topic has drifted to the back pages so I will do something to push it up a bit. For any of the Mera owners that may potentially need/want some spare components, I may have a "deal" for you. I now have at least one extra complete functional set of Vitaloni power mirrors and a spare set of Chromadoras. Both items are in very good condition but are not new. As always, they will not be give aways but I likely can sell them for less than what it would cost elsewhere. If you have any potential interest in either of these items, send me a PM or e-mail and we can talk about it.

That really IS good news, Dan! Sorry that it happened tho. Do you think it might have been the cold temperatures affecting an older part? Rex says "Happy New Year" to everyone, BTW

I must say with the 3800 it runs like it should have. Pontiac should have built then with motor similar until the 3800SC was introduced in 87.

As an update, the yellow Mera in Finland had a final sale price around $16, 500. Considering the work that it needed after 8 years of storage I think that the broker did very well for himself. If I ever sell a Mera maybe I should advertise it overseas also.

nice sale......that's good money. not bad at all you think there is an added "not from around here" premium for cars #1 Modified and #2 an import? I see it like the real Skyline GTR's that are starting to come over because of a 25 year statute of limitations?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nis...58&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

Thanks for posting this very interesting update Nelson. It got me thinking, and I'm sure that even if Rex could fetch that kind of money, it would be worth less to me than this: But if I had Four Meras .....

Just remember that all of mine were/are restoration projects. They were not nearly as nice as your car when I got them. After a lot of cash and labor the final results generally make it worthwhile but I sometimes wonder why I started on this crazy venture. At least it keeps me occupied in my spare time. Nelson

You started on the crazy adventure because it kept you sane! I think it's why we all do it. If we drink, we end up with nothing to show for it. (LOL) You ended up with four cool MERAs!!!

There is an 88 T-Top Mera with a N* conversion on eBay (looks like auto transmission) that has been converted to a F308 recently. The price is $17000 with all of the F car stuff, a basic 308 type interior, and manual (not correct) mirrors. BTW, the build sticker has been removed and no longer exists. The same is also true for the MERA rear deck letters as well as the front nose badge. This update is based on questions I asked through the eBay system. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pon...Cars_Trucks#viTabs_0BTW, the current owner is taking offers if anyone is interested. The Mera from Finland (Uk-registred) was sold to Denmark. That means there are now 2 Mera´s in Scandinavia, mine (in Stockholm, Sweden), and one in Denmark. I'm not alone anymore :-) [This message has been edited by JanR (edited 02-05-2015).]
