So, today I am finally getting underway with my chop now that all the snow has gone (crosses fingers) Yesterday I prefitted the Archie rockers I am going to do everything at once I decided so I can just hammer out all the bodywork at once.

This is what I am thinking for a color combo

Awesome, can't wait to see you chop that bad boy. Are you doing a total homebrew chop, or are you taking it somewhere? Also, I'm digging the color combo, I would like to see a photoshop of that.

Yup I am doing a total home brew chop using the Archie kit Today made huge progress all I have left is to remove the front and rear windows and to weld in support braces then its Chopin time!!! I had a bit of a pain in the ass with two of the roof hold down bolts one on the fast back part and one on the roof panel both of them spun outta the fiberglass so I will have to fix those later but otherwise just being slow and careful I didn't break nothing! did all this myself today in just a few hours.

Sail panel fail oooops!

Pain in rear to remove!!

took entire interior out

Found my short! grrrr mice!

Temporary roof to keep rain out

Join us!!

Damn thing bit me!!!

minor rust

Yeah you were definitely busy, and kudos for getting your roof panel off in one piece. That damn black tacky sealant crap from the factory is some real tough stuff. Also, you caught that rust at a good time, very easy to repair and prevent right now by putting some kind of chassis coating on like POR-15 or such. Can't wait to see some more! Good luck!

So I like the look of the sail panels shown on the outlaws thread, but my question is were can I find a set of smoked sail panels to cut up so I can do it since mine disintegrated when I tried to remove them, granted mine were really cheap knockoffs and didn't even have a curve to them they just were bent over on the front. I need a set of not so nice ones if anyone has some they can be totally junk I think i am going to use them as a mold and just make a set of fiberglass delete ones with a scoop in it. kinda like the ones on a lotus esprite.

Got alittle farther today, the front window was coming out really good till I got to the part with a chip in it and just like that it cracked grrrrrrrrrrrr well I wanted a new one anyway guess I am forced to get one now! tomorrow I will be making a internal frame for inside the car to hold it square and temp welding it in, prob overkill but my driveway is un-even so I dont want to use the block it up method.

I'm on the verge of running out. you can use the last of it if you want though Lol

the tank gauge reads basically 0, but the regulator shows theres still some in the tank

thats some crazy fast progress you made. I cant believe how fast for your first chop infact (or is that your first?)

I know your good with body work stuff so I'm sure that helps

YA cool if it would last ten minuts id have the main welds done enuf were I could let it sit till monday when I can get more, I ran out right when I was welding the left b pillar and the a pillar base so its a bit floppy but secure! I was otherwise going to go get some gasless wire to at least throw a few extra tacks on it so it cant move at all, the right side of the car is basically done with all welding!

Did alittle more work today, since I am out of shielding gas for the welder I decided to fix all the rust damage to the rear clip, it took me all of 20 minuts to wire wheel all the rust off and it was good! I then got some good 3m rubberized undercoating and coverd the rear frame rails inside and out, that should take care of any future rust!

Hey put up a pic or two of you welding! lol! Grinding is easy, the welding is the hard part.

edit to add---Oh you got em up there while I was typing. I guess I'll have to learn to take a better pic
