They say this maybe the closet thing to a real map? But it is highly debated.

It is essentially impossible to transfer a sphere onto a flat surface.

The reason why the atlas looks like that is because it shows right angles, such as streets, correctly, which is extremely important for navigation.

What I wanna know is....WHY do you guys get $$$$$$$$-MONEY green, and WE get "I've been feminized by liberals" pink ??????

I would think a few hours in photoshop could make it more representative of size, but yeah latitude and longitude wouldn't be right anymore.

The earth aint flat

One common "fix" for the distortion issue is to print the map with scalloped-shaped cutouts along the north and south edges. That way, the land areas are pretty close to scale but there are gaps in the map to make it happen.
