This whole "refugee" thing is much different than it's ever been, at least as far as I'm able to tell... maybe someone can correct me?
In the past, refugees from other countries came here because there was a legitimate famine, war, or disaster in their home country. In addition, we always allowed a certain number of people from every country to immigrate because there was a huge demand for it.
Some of this is obvious, of course, but the Democrats seem to be desperate to get as many people into the United States as possible, particularly from poor and impoverished countries. I mean, I understand that's because Democrats are hoping these people will eventually become voters... but aside from that, I'm not sure I really understand this whole "economic refugee" concept. I've been to Honduras and Guatemala... I know how impoverished it is. It's no where near as bad as what you see in parts of North Africa (where people literally live in mud huts). But still... most of the people coming here are not totally impoverished. They're coming here because they've been told on social media (with their cell phones, yes...) that they'll get free stuff. They do want better for themselves, and I can't blame them for wanting to come here, but at some point, those countries are going to need to fix their own problems. Democrats are only too happy to cater to them and give them benefits that even poor US citizens can't have. And then because they're instigating, the US then has to spend more money to dissuade them in the form of border patrol and more walls. Democrats have caused such a massive drain on resources fighting their stupid political battles... just because they want to be in power.

Dumbocrats always whine about being the world's policeman. Yet they want to be the world's mommy.
Hmm. They were whining about President Trump's announcement / quip that he would send them all to Dumbocrat led sanctuary cities. It looks like they might end up getting them after all.
There is no such thing as an economic refugee. In response we have private organizations on the border handing out leaflets explaining exactly what words to use when encountering US Border Patrol so that the illegal migrants are handled as real refugees as opposed to criminals.
The illegal migrant population grew more in Massachusetts than any other state from 2007 to 2017 — a 60,000 spike that costs Massachusetts taxpayers and risks public safety, legal immigration advocates say.
When WWII was over, boundries were drawn on pieces of paper, with little regard to the people of the area. Perhaps the parties to the treaties should have left the paper blank.
Nothing like the perspective of hindsight.
But, everyone knew the area was floating on an ocean of oil.
