Just trying to keep accurate information posted... which is exactly the opposite you are trying to do. This isn't about 1 tenth, Fog's time is 0.482 seconds (nearly 5 tenths or half a second) quicker and 6.37 mph faster... these are not trivial numbers and definitely not "one tenth".

The whole purpose of the 1/4 mile thread is for people to post slips and videos to document their successes, so people know they are real. Fog did exactly this. He posted the slip, the posted results from the race venue, as well as the video from the posted slip run... yet you still refuse to accept his accomplishments, which is very disappointing.

Fog: 9.388 @ 148.59 mph vs Scotts: 9.87 @ 142.22 mph Scott has had 8+ years to take the number away from Fog, but hasn't posted that he has done so.

Some things just keep repeating. But to some of us, good information is kinda important.

OK point proven about Fogs run but to be fair about it, we also must consider the percentage of Fogs car that is OEM original. We can put a Fiero body on a Funny Car, gasser or Jet car but is it a Fiero? That is why the NHRA has different classes. Scott did his build on a low budget using only a different GM powertrain so I'll credit him for that 9 second run, fastest 1/4 mile in No America .

So, they're both Buick style V6s?

Mine!

Kidding, well sort of... Maybe I'm imagining this, but I thought I read somewhere 20 years ago that the early 86 GT's were the quickest stock 1/4 mile Fiero due to the Muncie 4-speed combined with 3.65 gearing, because the 1984-1985 had different gearing and the later 1986.5 to 1988 ones being 5-speed. (that "extra gear" being sales marketing influenced more than anything and 1st becoming a tow-truck gear)

Disclaimer: I've owned several Getrag's and I prefer the Muncie 4-speed over the Getrag 5-speed because there is only a few hundred rpm difference at highway speed and I rarely drive my car on highway, 1st gear is more useful, its a quieter trans, more robust/stronger... and last but not least while I don't have any evidence to back this up it seems clutch life is longer on the 4-speed historically.

not sure how this reply belongs in this thread?? Stock Fieros are fun, but complete dogs on a drag strip... 4 speed or 5 speed. no real difference
