Are Fiero tail light lens still being reproduced (Page 2/2)

I could never understand would want royalties for a car they don’t really support, as we the owners have huge interest in.
I don’t think a few 10,000$ of royalties or even 100,000$ on royalties GM needs. Talk about corporate greed.
I understand their names and brands are registered, but Pontiac and other names on the GM don’t exist.
I can’t understand why GM cares. They should be happy someone stepped up and took effort to reproduce and make happen, when GM has no interest it making parts to keep our cars and other car enthusiasts on the road.

Remember that the "General Motors Company" which made the Fiero is DEAD!

"General Motors" is an entirely different new company after the Chapter 11 reorganization.

The Pontiac trademark as been renewed as of 2017. When a company reorganizes under Chapter 11, it can pick and choose what assets, patents, trademarks, etc. will be transitioned to the new company and which remain with the old company.

The Pontiac trademark is on its 3rd company reassignment since the original assignment in 1957.

I believe that we will see GT taillight lenses again, perhaps with a solid black area and without the Pontiac logo. The Chinese have the molds and they will never return them to the USA. . If they sense that there is a market, sure as sh*t they will make them. They already did this by reproducing the Fiero front and rear calipers, the Cadillac 4.9L distributor, the GT front facia, the 88 GT front hubs, and now the notchback taillight covers. Chinese businesses have no ethics; they just want to make money and could care less about tooling ownership. branding and IP.

Dennis, I'm not disagreeing with your comment on lack of ethics... but if the Chinese don't care about "tooling ownership, branding and IP", why wouldn't they put the Pontiac logo on the taillights?

Good point but lets remember that GM is still a large corporation that does big business in China. New Buicks are 100% Chinese made. IMO putting the Pontiac name on Chinese repos would be bad for the Chinese/GM business relationship. Many big American brands have already been ripped off by the Chinese. Duplicate and counterfeit auto parts are also flooding the market especially on eBay where you never know what you are really getting.
My guess is that the GT taillight covers will be imported blank and then be marked at a facility here. Case in point, take look at repo Corvette C3 and C4 taillight lenses easily available online. They even have the DOT no. on them. Making money seems to be the impetus behind all Chinese imports.
