Interesting Lace wheels for the Big wheels people out there. (Page 1/7)

I like them, sadly they only come in 19x8.5, which gives you a little wide in the front and good size in the rear, but they are staggered in the 5x100 pattern, thank you VW for using the 5x100 too!

Oh, they aren't cheap, but for a 19" 5x100 wheel in a staggered selection of offsets $319 a wheel isn't horrible.

Anyway here a couple pictures and a link.

The look hot because they look stock but i do love a lip on my wheels so i would actually pass.

Uh.. I don't see them being staggered. Just two different offsets in the same 19x8.5 size. To me staggered is thin front wdie rear. I like the gold ones. I'll be looking for gold lace for my next project.

I have been eying these Konig Lace wheels for a while. Previously they offered (for my taste) 17x7 and 17x8 but it appears that they've dropped the staggered fitments. They were also offering a bright finish version on the rim, I thought, but that's gone now also.

That may be the name of the wheels but its not an actual lace style wheel. The Konigs are nice looking but it seems like everybody has wheels like that.
I would love an OEM looking lace wheel in 17-18". Even the one in the OP is good enough. Not that I could afford them anytime soon.

Agreed, but the lack of a machined lip on the rim would be a deal breaker for me on the originally posted wheels.

You may want to keep in mind the PITA that lace wheels can be to clean of brake dust and other dirt (unless they're black, a color which I'd think might do a fair job of hiding detritus of many types). In any case, before deciding you're OK with cleaning the aftermarket wheels depicted here, keep in mind, if you'd not thought of this earlier, that those wheels have a whopping 30 holes in them to keep clean --- 10 smaller, plus 20 larger:

Worse than that, the stock Fiero "lace" wheels essentially have 50% more holes in them than that to keep clean: 45 in total, of which 30 have holes in them, plus an additional 15 with "faux" holes or depressions in them, which taken together, likely would prove to be even more of a PITA to keep clean than the aftermarket ones pictured earlier.

I'm not by any means saying you shouldn't get either type of wheel. Rather, I'm merely reminding anyone following this thread of the effort that could be required to keep "lace" wheels looking decent --- aftermarket or otherwise.

Nice but they look more snowflake than lace
eph_kay SEP 07, 10:43 AM
Sorry, I would agree with the snowflake comment, but I have heard the stock gt wheels called both, so to me it is what ever you choose to call it.

Oh, and I said staggered fitment, yes they are all 19x8.5, but with a 35mm offset and a 45mm offset you should be able to get them to fit well enough front and rear.

Also, they are coming out with a 3 piece version of the wheel, but I am sure it will be a lot more pricey.

Excuse the air bagged look if you aren't a fan, but here is the 3 piece they are making.
