Finally! Pulled a roof without busting it (Page 1/1)

OMG 4th times the charm. I finally managed to pull a roof whole.

No cracks no busted studs just a roof.

Tips:
Do it on a hot day or have a heat gun.
Make sure you have all of the nuts and bolts removed.
Pull the window rubber trim between the roof and a pillars and the windshield.
Run a razor blade on the inside of this channel.
Take your time use lots of wedges and also you can stuff flat Paper or cardboard between the roof and the strip caulk. The strip caulk will want to glue back together.
Make sure you lift the roof section that runs at the bottom of the windshield up above the glass. It will wedge itself against the glass so prop it above.

The first one I pulled was in a junk yard- Successfully! Then I tried to remove the (original) roof on my 85.....Almost did it but then cracked......The windshield! The tint at the top was yellowed badly anyway, but it was frustrating. That was at 23 years.......Then had to replace the windshield two more times because of A) Gravel left on Highway 101 resurfacing in Burlingame, and then B) Someone throwing something out of their car on 880 in Hayward (Everyone was backing off and getting out of the fast lane so I accelerated...and found out WHY)

Doing it on a hot day is REALLY good advice....and also, taking your time......
