According to the VIN that is an '87 SE V6 so it must be a kit.

AFAIK They built Meras on SE V6 as well and there is nothing else in the vin other than being an 87 or 88 that would tell you its a Mera. If it were pre 87 it would be 100% a kit.

Didn't true Meras also have a sequence number on them? A friend had an 86 with OEM replacement body parts but they didn't have any numbers. I think that sequence number is how owners determine when in the production their car was made.

Any and all historical information I have read has indicated that Mera's are an '87-'88 GT only built option. The hood and front fascia of car pictured does not appear to be a Mera. I am not 100% positive of this but I am guessing on 30 years interest in our favorite car.

Might as well save the info here, as it won't be at that site indefinitely.

Looks to me like an '84 nose.

The 88 MERA's were built off of Formulas.

1987 MERA's were built on GT chassis, but some of the prototypes may have been SE's.

The headlight doors are also stock Fiero instead of the ribbed covers.

Oh that's a good catch! I missed that.

I thought that bumper looked funny but its too hard to tell because of the closeness and quality of the photo.
