Hi all…, I have a question about the front metal bumper beam on Fiero’s. Do ALL Fiero’s have the same exact front bumper beam? I realize the honeycomb that bolts to it vary depending on the type of nose on the car. I’m in the process now of changing out my aero nose on my 85 GT and I’m going to be installing a nose from an 87 4 cylinder coupe. Anyways, I had forgotten that this particular Fiero was in a minor front collision. (from the previous owner) When I removed the metal beam (to get the honeycomb off) I noticed someone had done a little bit of tweaking to the back side / passenger side of the beam, maybe to get it back into shape. I could leave it the way it is but I would prefer to get an unmolested beam from another Fiero. So, can I grab a front bumper beam from any Fiero? Thanks, Kit

Beams are the same the aero style will have a spacer for the blinkers bolted on.

I did the very thing on my 85GT. The rear wasn't a problem but the front nose had to have a different bumper beam. Today, you could probably drill where you need to, 20 years ago, it was much easier to find the bumper beam and put it on and bolt everything up to it.
Mine is the black one in the front. Still had the GT moldings on the sides.

Ok, thanks for the info. Looks great with that nose. That’s exactly what I want. As I began to take everything apart, I began to see small differences between the noses and their parts. Looks like I’m going to have to wait for another coupe to enter a local PNP. I didn’t grab enough parts. I thought the honeycomb and wheel well liners would cover it. Kit

Or you could post that you are looking for one in The Mall. There is a club member down in San Diego that seems to have parts for sale.

I doubled checked the parts book and the 84-87 beam was the same PN. in 87 the coupe beam got a different PN and the 88gt used the same pn for the beam. Im not sure what the difference would be fundamentally though. May be worth doing a visual comparison.

The only differences I have seen is the location of the holes for mounting the lifting blocks or the reinforcement blocks.
A careful comparison of the two beams should allow proper modifications.
I checked the P22 and read it a the 85 GT and the 87 coupe used the same crash beam, but I may not have interpreted the information correctly.

When i read it the 84-88 Areo cars used the same PN except maybe 86 and the 84-86 non aero cars used a different pn until 87 when they used the same one as the aero. but its also possible to interpret that (86) as the cut off before going to the next line.
P22 11-90 7-7 84-86 non aero #3 bar impact 10031925 7-9 84-87 aero #3 bar impact (86) 10031925 bar impact 10040039 7-11 87-88 non aero #5 bar impact 10040039 7-12 88 aero #4 bar impact 10040039
but i agree OP should just look at it :P

Thanks all for your replies. All that being said, I will take a few front & back pics of my present bumper beam and then when I get to the next PNP, I will compare the pics with the one in the yard. Sounds like it will be do-able, whatever I find. Beat’s having a beam that has been in a previous accident. Thanks, Kit

Update: An 88 GT showed up at a a local PNP so I grabbed a front bumper beam from it. Next step is to bolt it on, then see if the honeycomb from the 87 coupe is going to line up and also if the front turn signals are going to line up also, Kit
