I bought a 1988 Fiero coupe that has been sitting for 10 years.
I dropped the tank, the gas was nasty. I replaced the sending unit and a new ac delco ep 386 fuel pump. Also new fuel filter. I put in a different tank that isn’t rusty and has good fuel.
Tried starting the car, it just cranks, doesn’t even try to start. The system primes, but I the injector didn’t spray fluid. It’s probably gummed up. I bought a new injector and regulator and tried to blow out the fuel passages. Now the injector DUMPS fuel. It completely floods over. The fuel pump seems to run for like 10 seconds after cranking the car.
Even with all the fuel, the car doesn’t even try to start. I haven’t checked spark, but I guess I am just worried about the fuel system? There is way too much fuel coming out and I feel like I should fix that first.
I don’t know the first thing about iron dukes. I have tried looking it up, but it seems pre 88 dukes are kinda different?
You can see the fuel just from priming.

Ogre's Cave has a lot of good info on the duke
Did you get the 87/88 injector?
Are the lifters moving? If you are building up that much fuel perhaps the timing set is blown and none of thee of the valves are opening. You can check this by opening the oil cap and look at the lifters while somebody cranks the car.

Yes it is the correct injector for an '88. The lifters move.

Id check the plugs on the coil packs/crank sensor and make sure they have good connection. Did it run when parked?

Simply put engines need fuel air and spark to work. With a new fuel pump and injector your should be getting fuel to the engine but check the fuse to be sure. That engine also has a coil pack and cam sensor. Check for spark using a spark plug grounded to the engine. Turn the engine over. DO you see a spark?

See my Cave, DIS Ignition, Ground "Myth" notes & 700 TBI
Fuel leak is likely bad reg diaphragm. watch the regulator when pump prime. Get TBI "rebuild" kit.
ECM won't turn on Injector if doesn't see ignition first or ECM is "bad."
Also look in oil fill hole and watch the rockers. have someone start the car. no move then timing gear failed. Ignition runs off of crank but won't start even if everything else works w/ bad gear.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.
