The other day I was at a stop light at the main intersection in town in my fiero with the windows down.
It was a nice sunny day, I was enjoying my drive home from work. When the light turned green. The teenagers in the left turning lane on my left side shouted “your car isn’t real!” And floored it. Turning left and heading away from me.
I didn’t react to it. I just put it in gear and drove off and was trying to figure out what they meant.
I’m just going to assume they saw my white 88GT and thought “wow such a cool car, how could I possibly believe what my eyes are seeing” haha
No, idk. Maybe they thought it was some kit car.
I’ve had interesting interactions recently with my fiero now that spring is here and people are a bit more sociable since the weather is nicer.
I pretty much shut down a small town gas station for 10 minutes or so a few days ago when a couple of guys wanted to check out the fiero.
I’ve heard every story from “ hey that was my first car” to oh I knew someone who had one of those in high school.
What fiero related funny or interesting conversations have you guys had over the years?
So far no body has ever commented about fiero related fires to me and no one has tried to drag race me yet.

My funny/weird Fiero-related story; Back around 1992, my GF and I were going camping at Lassen Volcanic Nat'l Park....It is called "The One and Lonely Nat'l Park" because, while everyone knows about Yosemite, the Redwoods, and even Death Valley NPs, almost nobody has ever heard of Lassen. Take a few minutes and look up "Lassen eruption" (1915)
So we pull into the southwest entrance and park at the Ski Chalet (Now gone) for breakfast (Omelet with all the trimmings)....Park next to a >>Fiero<<....Understand, this is the middle of NOWHERE, and it was at 9 am....Went upstairs and ordered our food- the lady behind the counter owned the Fiero....
An hour later, going back to the car to continue the drive....ANOTHER Fiero is now parked next to mine! The guy and his wife had driven down from Canada heading for a FOCOA gathering in Monterey.....
Please look at a map of N. Cal and you will see that Lassen is not on any (Normal) route...

That is hilarious! The first Fiero I ever saw in real life was the one I bought. It was a glorious feeling. It’s also a really sad feeling when you drive by a fiero when you are in another car. (Usually wife’s car)
Like this guy driving by in his fiero is so confused about why I’m waving so excitedly at him.
I’ve been to Lassen and most of the national parks on the west side of the country + Hawaii but not Alaska
Lassen is cool. Totally worth a stop if you’re an outdoorsey type like me.

Many many years ago while at the local Friday night car cruise, an older gentleman looked at my car (eng comp) with a disgusted look and said to me, why would anybody put a Chevy engine in a Ferrari?
I looked at him and said who is the dumbass that did that.
Again he looked at me with a BIG ? on his face.
Than I said, it's a PONTIAC Fiero.
He finally said yah I know that.
Made my day or in this case night.
True story.

I have a few.
At one national event a guy was showing off his Hulki autographed visor he just had signed. Till someone advised him that Hulki was not at the event.
I had a woman looking at my car and told me she used to have a Fiero till she found out that the gas tank was in the middle of the car. She said she just did not feel safe.
I told her if a car hits you hard enough to hit the tank you would not need to worry about it as it would have to go through you first.
I was driving to a Fiero event at Indy. I had a car come up and drive past me pulled over and slowed down on my right and then pass on the left again with several thumb ups.
I was at a car show and NBA player Larry Nance was there. He also was a pro stock driver and real car guy. He was looking at my car and I told him go ahead and get in. He said he might get in but they may have to cut him out. He was 6’ 11”. He also is a really nice guy.

Was driving home from work, like normal minding my own business. Take off from a light and about halfway to the next light I hear this engine screaming next to me. This beat up Civic was giving it everything it had to catch me. Gave him my WTF eyes and took off. Never had anyone try to do that in a nice car that actually had a chance, always someone in a shitbox trying to impress someone that is laughing at them. I have never had a light foot but damn that was funny.

Back in college, August 2007, I always moved into the dorms early to enjoy the tail end of summer before classes started, peace and quiet away from the family and before the other guys moved in. I was driving my red 84 SE somewhere around rural Houghton Michigan, enjoying the twisty roads, and stopped at an old store with a Coke machine out front. I stopped and got a Diet Coke, leaning against the car, like a scene out of an old movie. An old guy came over and asked, "What kind of Ferrari is that?" I explained it was a Pontiac Fiero.

A few years back my son and I were at Walmart shopping. We came out and started putting things in the trunk when an employee gathering up carts spotted the car. He said " nice Ferrari ". I said thanks. Then he came over to look and said "wow I didn't know Ferrari's had their engines in the back". I said yeah, Ferrari's have been mid engine for years. Without saying any more, we got in the car and left. He probably went in the store and told others that he just talked to guy that had a Ferrari.

Hyper, I am always pointing out how safe the car is- "If you get hit hard enough to penetrate to the gas tank. you really ain't going to care anymore!"
Oregon, I read a great book on the Cascade mtns; "Fire and Ice; The Cascade mountains"....It was later updated and renamed; "Fire mountains of the West"
In 88 I drove up thru them, visiting Lassen, Lava Beds, Crater Lake, Newberry Caldera (And Lava river cave), then over to I5 and up to visit relatives in WA.....While there my Uncle and Aunt took me to Mt. Rainier.
I highly recommend the Highway 97 area in oregon- Great adventures and beautiful scenery.

A few years ago I was filling up one of my Fieros at the gas station when a customer chatted me up about the car. He mentioned that he had often seen another Fiero that was usually parked on a busy street nearby. When I told him that one was mine too, he said "Hey, you're that Fiero Guy!"
I kinda liked that!
