This is off in 85 GT that I just bought. It was actually posted in the for sale section here recently. The car has 58,000 original miles, and is super clean. I can't wait to get it out on the road again. I know it's the ignition coil, and it is an Accel brand. However, my Google skills are escaping me and I can't find it. The reason I'm asking for help is that the mounting bracket for this is not the same as other coils. So if I use a different coil we have to change the mounting setup. Does anybody recognize this, or where I can get it? Can't find a part number on it.

I would suggest going back to the OE style coil from Echlin ( NAPA).

First off MSD coils are red and Accel are yellow so that's been painted. Also, that model is discontinued. It's for GM vehicles but I can't find out exactly which ones. I've found a couple of references to that and it was used in a Toyota and another where it was used in a 1971 Porsche 911.
For your research, the part number is 140008
Also like mentioned by Joe above, use a stock style coil. The aftermarket coil failure rate is quite high.[This message has been edited by IMSA GT (edited 04-16-2022).]

Thank you! Yeah, I knew it had been painted....not particularly well too, LOL. With the part number painted over, I couldn't find it with a Google search. I will go back to a factory type set up.

Meh, if it still works why not use it?
But, with that said it probably is not a bad idea to go back to stock style. I have an NGK coil with my 2.8, been running just fine for 3 years.[This message has been edited by Spadesluck (edited 04-16-2022).]
