I know they made two Mill and Drill machines for the Fiero. One was a prototype and one that was used for actual car production. Are they still around somewhere (like in storage) or have they been dismantled and/or scrapped?? Thanks, Kit

I'm sure they are long gone by now unless a private buyer picked them up. Manufacturing doesnt hold onto equipment for very long once a product becomes discontinued.

Didn't certain equipment get moved to Spring Hill TN after Fiero production ceased? Of course, what has happened to that stuff since then could be anybody's guess.

Those machines were like several stories tall. They were massive. There's no way they were moved in one piece out of the factory when it closed. Almost certain they were parted out for other uses or just sold for scrap metal.

^^^ What he said. I thought they went to make Saturns, which used the same space frame/plastic panels construction.

There were three machines built. All three machines were used for the Fiero program from 1983 (Beginning of the 1984 Model Year) until 1988. After that, one machine went on to the new Saturn plant to start production of the Saturn SL-Series sedan in 1990. The other 2 machines were retained and used for the Lumina APV, Trans Sport, and Stilletto mini-vans.
Yes they are large but they were disassemble and reassembled at the other plants.
At this point I would say it is safe to say they all three are scrapped. The mill and drill just never worked out as they expected.
