It's interesting because some people don't even know it's there yet others have that light turn on at random when they shift. Seems to be a hit-and-miss item. David Hambleton JUN 04, 08:12 PM I had an ECM for a 5 speed in my '84 SE for a couple of years, so it always lit up to indicate it was time to shift into 5th gear, which the '84 didn't have, of course... For my 6'1" self, the steering wheel position obscured the light anyway, but the faint glow was there in darkness.
