Can the rear valve cover near the trunk be removed with out removing the intake?
I have been told it can be a while back but I just want to confirm before I start.
Thanks
Trunk side valve cover.

I've had mine off and all I removed was the "pack" that holds the wiring harness in its position between the top of the valve cover the intake runners. It's been a bunch of years though so I don't recall any other tricks I needed to do.
I used a long flex shaft with a 1/4"-drive socket to turn the top two bolts. The flex shaft was a thing I found at the store and it resembled a stiff spring.

Thanks. I have all I need to know about removing the cover just was unsure it would come off with the intake in place.
You backed up what someone else told me. I just did not want to start this before a couple shows if the intake had to come off.
The funny thing is I have had the intake off but in near 40 years never the cover.

As you probably know, the "intake" isn't one part... it's three. I've had success removing the valve covers by only removing the top plenum. I've heard it can be done without removing the top plenum, but I didn't try.
It's true, 2.8 valve covers CAN be removed without removing the middle intake plenum!

The middle is my only concern on the trunk side as the is not over hanging in any way to be an issue.
It I have to take the top off anyways as I plan to replace it with the engraved intake after powder coating it and the cover.
I just need to lear the rockers and come under the middle manifold.
The factor manual also makes no mention of the intake either.
I have the odd tools to get to the bolts.
I have a number of shows coming up and if the middle intake had to come off I was going to wait till winter.[This message has been edited by hyperv6 (edited 07-15-2022).]

Well then, as my image above demonstrates, you're home free.

Same deal here, removed the upper just for access. I loosened the middle intake so it could shift ever so slightly away from the cover and that helped me get it off.

Move what? The cover intake etc?
My goal is to remove the cover and not touch the intake. I can get the bolts out I just don’t want to remove or move the intake.
Will the cover come out over the rockers and under the intake with no moving of the intake.m
