Auxiliary Gauges---Earliest Year? (Page 1/3)

What was the earliest year the auxiliary gauges were offered, other than the Indy?

I have a brown dash, instrument pod, and shift surround that I recall removing from an 84 Fiero. Its an 85MPH speedo and the pod has black switches.

Today, while cleaning and rearranging my storage unit, I noticed that the dash has provisions for the auxiliary gauge pod and even has the harness present and protruding through the slot. At best, I believe the gauges were first offered in the 86 model year. Did the 84SE have the gauges as an option? The car had the sheepskin seat covers, too.

I just assumed that they were first made available the same year as the 2.8/GT was... in '85. But I haven't based my belief on any research.

I've owned 2 original 85GTs and have seen a few, but none had the center gauges. I don't remember this one having the gauge present. I didn't get it but there was another with me that may have gotten it. He had an 86GT with tan interior.

Yet you say the '84 Indy had the center gauges. Every Indy, or was it an option?

I wasn't positive about the Indy so I just looked up some interior images. The Indy didn't have the center gauges.

I used to stalk the dealerships back in the day.
The first Fiero to have the center aux gauges was the 86 2M6/SE. The 4 cylinder SE did not have them.
My 85 GT, purchased new, did not have them. It did, however, have an oil pressure gauge in the tach.

I forgot that the 2m6 came before the GT. Maybe my dash isn't from an 84. I'm going to remove the ductwork and map pocket to clean it. Maybe there's some identifiers that are hidden. The sticker on the ductwork is unreadable.

pretty sure the 85 2m6 all had aux gauges. So the connector should be there for all 85-88 model years.

If any 85 V6's had the gauges seems the GT would have had it, too. They didn't.

I haven't removed the ductwork yet to see if there's any info on the dash.

He's right. '86 and up V6s only. The oil pressure gauge moved to the aux pod to allow for the new backlit gauges with the turned tach.
