225s on the front (Page 1/1)

Greetings all:

New here and have a quick question. We are trying to run a square set-up on our 24 Hours of Lemons Fiero. We are going to stick with 15" wheels and want to run 225/45-15 Hankook R-S4 tires all around. We have several 15x7" wheels with 35 offset. Anybody know if the 225's will fit up front?

Thanks,
Bill

I have 16 x 7 wheels with 38 mm offset on my 85 Fiero. Also, 205/55 tires. My cal-cu-mi-lations show that your tire outer sidewall will move outward 13 mm (1/2"). The inner sidewall will move inward 7 mm (Just over 1/4")

I think you will be ok- but you would experience more kick-back thru the steering and a bit more effort turning>>>At low speeds (Not really critical on a RACE car)

Yes!
I use 225/50 R15 up front and 235/50 R15 on the rear.
Toyo Proxes R888 semi-slicks.

Cheers 😉

I have 225 /50 /16 all around. No issues.

These are the tire size Herb Adams ran on his showroom stock Fiero.

Steering a slightly heavier.

I also have the Herb Adams VSE sway bars 1” front 1 1/4” rear.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate the thoughtful replies. I have four Hankook R-S4s on the way!

I am sure these questions (or other similar questions) get asked frequently. I was just in a hurry for info and wasn't having any luck with the search function. So, thanks for the speedy, nonjudgemental help.

Just for fun, I have attached a picture of the car. It has just been sanded for paint (Tractor Supply sells oil based enamels). Painting starts tomorrow.

Maybe next time mention the year of your Fiero.... because if it's an '88, all the above advice is potentially wrong.

Billy, I did some odd things to my stabilizer bars to improve both turn-in and drop-throttle-oversteer. The car turns in much quicker yet cutting the throttle at the limit in a turn only tightens the car's turn-radius a bit. >>More responsive AND safer handling.

Here is a thread on what I did; https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/140674.html

I am running 265 x 50 x15 tires on the front of several Meras using the Chromadora rims. Several have also been lowered 0.5 to 1.0 inches. The only issue that I have is sometimes a slight rubbing when doing a sharp turn at parking lot speeds. The steering force at very low speeds is also increased somewhat but is still acceptable. I would use the OEM size of 245 x 50 15 tires in the front, but I cannot locate any company that currently makes them for road use.
