Was that NOT supposed to be removed? Is it here in this pic?

the strip was to be removed some lazy pontiac employees left them so we have some in the wild. They are a life saver for water on the back deck going on the exhaust manifold.

Do not remove it.

I had mine done years ago and the tech told me to take it off before it came in and put it back after it was done.

The water is bad enough on the back side of the engine with it and with out even worse.

The tech said removing it did little and if anything created more issues.

With the weatherstrip removed, the rear window gets VERY HOT from exhaust heat rising there.
It can be like sitting in front of an open oven on a hot day. Leave it on.

I've put them back on both my cars (lucky to find a few in wrecking yards).

That intake boot doesn't look like most I've seen on V6 Fieros, is that the pre-recall one?

That is the early 85 intake tube. This car has never had the recall.

I still have my tube as they gave me most of my parts back less the manifold.

hyperv6 is right. The recall work was never done on your car. The intake tube is the giveaway.
